Denver Halloween commences  as you enter through the mouth of a 25’ skull and explore a cursed mausoleum ablaze with lights and crawling with the living dead.  Strongmen showcasing feats of strength, the Hall of Insane Clowns, the Damned City, a hanging crow’s cage, giant LED-lit swings, pyromaniac contortionists dangling from the rafters, purple lightning, a bodiless table, ghosts, illusions, shenanigans and whatever your imagination conjures into being.

From the funny, the crazy, the crafty, the scantily clad, the horrific…the guests’   movie-level costumes are entertainment in their own right for this Halloween in Denver.

Before that, Lieutenant Dan with the help of Forrest Gump taught Iron Man that he was a “Marvel shrimp.”  With $2000 on the line, who will go to battle this year?

Monster beats from Top 40 mash-ups to hip-hop 80’s and terrifying grooves that pound the Palace walls.

Liberating libations flow from the darkest realms and for VIPs, titillations from top shelf spirits and fermented crimson grapes fresh from the harvest abound.

2016 Great American Beard & Moustache Championship

Great American Moustache

Beards and mustaches everywhere! It seems that so many of our Colorado men have a sexy stache or beard and now these facial haired men (and women) will have the opportunity to congregate and compete with one another at the 2016 Great American Beard And Moustache Championship!

I’m hosted the beard and mustache competition earlier this summer at the Denver County Fair. Joe Mills, the tall one right behind me, is one of Fashion Denver’s besties!

Ready or Not, Hair They Come! Competitors From Across the Continent Converge in Denver for the 2016 Great American Beard and Moustache Championship Sponsored by Remington Beard Boss

The North American Competitive Beard and Moustache Alliance, working with corporate sponsor Remington Beard Boss, presents the 2016 Great American Beard and Moustache Championship at the Summit Music Hall in Denver, Colorado, USA on September 24th.

Great American Beard FestivalDenver, CO — From the Pacific to the Atlantic, from Hudson Bay to the Gulf of Mexico, facial hair has become commonplace today, with seemingly every demographic adopting beards and moustaches. While this may be a new fashion statement for some, everyday beard and “stache” growers have been competing for decades to see who can win bragging-rights and titles for the best facial hair. The North American Competitive Beard and Moustache Alliance (NACBMA, or more simply, “The Alliance”) was formed back in 2011 to help bring together facial hair clubs from around the hemisphere and promote grassroots charity beard and moustache competitions. The Alliance upholds the traditions of the World Beard and Moustache Association and has been working for five years to develop the ultimate in championships. Now, with their corporate partner, Remington Beard Boss, and other sponsors, they are ready to put on the 2016 Great American Beard and Moustache Championship!

Current NACBMA President and GABMC judge Chad Roberts puts it this way, “Between our 42 member clubs, we’ve hosted hundreds of charity facial hair competitions. We’ve learned what to do, what to avoid, and how to have a fun time while helping others. We’re glad that the Championship gives everyone a great reason to travel to Colorado and experience Denver and the natural wonders that abound throughout the state.”

The Championship will be held at the Summit Music Hall in Denver on the 24th of September, and is being hosted by the Boulder Facial Hair Club and the Rocky Mountain Beard and Moustache Club. The Alliance was looking for the best of the best when it comes to facial hair and has brought on a team of qualified, high profile judges:
● Aarne Bielefeldt (California) from IFC TV’s “Whisker Wars”
● Bryan Nelson (Texas), VP of the World Beard and Moustache Association (WBMA)
● Chad Roberts (Virginia), NACBMA President
● Lacey St. George (Colorado) of Lace Face Glass, and experienced facial hair judge
● Paul Roof (South Carolina), Commander of the Holy City Beard & Moustache Society
● Tommie Roe (Washington), Past WBMA Judge
● Warren Lille (Manitoba), Barber/Stylist, from Beard Team Canada

Pink Hawks
Local band Pink Hawks to perform at this family-friendly fundraising event celebrating the successes of GreenLeaf’s crew of powerful youth leaders who have spent the year building a new farm at the Smiley Campus

GreenLeaf, a Denver nonprofit, is excited to celebrate their recent move to the Park Hill neighborhood with the 2016 Farm-Raiser Benefit Concert featuring world dance band Pink Hawks. This family-friendly fundraising event will be held on Saturday, September 17th, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at The Art Garage at 6100 East 23rd Avenue, Denver, CO 80207. Proceeds will go to support GreenLeaf’s year-round youth leadership development, urban farming, and food justice programming. Early-bird tickets start at just $15 and can be purchased by visiting

Press photos 3In addition to live music and dancing, the Farm-Raiser event will feature an exciting silent auction, youth-led games and tours of GreenLeaf’s new farm at the Smiley Campus two blocks away, a delicious potluck-style dinner with food and drinks from local restaurants and breweries, and opportunities to purchase fresh produce from the farm and get involved with GreenLeaf’s award-winning programming.

Press photos 4The celebration will be focused on successes over the past year since GreenLeaf was forced to close their long-time farm home downtown and relocate operations. Thanks to a new partnership with Denver Public Schools, the GreenLeaf youth have built a brand new quarter-acre farm on the historic Smiley Campus in North Park Hill. GreenLeaf youth crew members work together to plan and manage the farm, including a weekly farm stand and small Community Supported Agriculture program, which help offset the cost of running the farm.

Relevant Goods celebrates 1 year

Relevant Goods 1 Year Celebration
Friday, September 9th from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m.
250 Broadway Denver, Colorado.

Denver’s source for clothing, accessories and gifts, Relevant Goods is on Broadway, in the Baker neighborhood will celebrate their first year in business next Friday. The event is a chance to shop, view the work of a local artist and celebrate a local business’ first year. Natalie Esquivel, owner of Relevant Goods, says “Relevant Goods is built on a balance of texture, ease and sophistication. It celebrates the urban and the earth in style.” The event is complimentary and open to all ages, no RSVP required. During the evening, Relevant Goods will offer small bites, cocktails and drawings for prizes and gift cards for the shop.

Relevant Goods

The evening also marks the opening of an art exhibition “Concrete Confetti” with local photographer and writer Risa Friedman. Risa documents architectural details and street art around Denver. Her art is marked with detail and color. The exhibition at Relevant Goods marks her first solo show. “I can’t think of any better way to celebrate being in business for a year than to add to the shop accessible art and be a part of people discovering talent in their own back yard. I think Risa’s photos will change the way people walk through and look at our city,” says Natalie.

The upcoming exhibition with Risa also marks the launching point for an ongoing art series. Every six to eight weeks, a new exhibition will release from a new artist. The exhibits will center specifically on female artists, many of them local. Natalie says “As a female business owner starting life over again, I want Relevant Goods to be a platform for the local female creative voice.”

Relevant GoodsNatalie says “ I am really grateful for the support I’ve received in the first year. Opening a small business is no joke and the first year takes its toll on everything in life outside the business. I have received kind words and encouragement from many shops and restaurant owners in the neighborhood as well as an immense amount of support and love from family and close friends. “
