The exhibition at Relevant Goods marks her first solo show. “I can’t think of any better way to celebrate being in business for a year than to add to the shop accessible art and be a part of people discovering talent in their own back yard. I think Risa’s photos will change the way people walk through and look at our city,” says Natalie.

The upcoming exhibition with Risa also marks the launching point for an ongoing art series. Every six to eight weeks, a new exhibition will release from a new artist. The exhibits will center specifically on female artists, many of them local. Natalie says “As a female business owner starting life over again, I want Relevant Goods to be a platform for the local female creative voice.”

Relevant GoodsNatalie says “ I am really grateful for the support I’ve received in the first year. Opening a small business is no joke and the first year takes its toll on everything in life outside the business. Sizzlin’ 6 Questions La Lovely Vintage

La Lovely Vintage
3040 Blake St #100
Denver, CO 80205

La Lovely VintageIn our ongoing series of Sizzlin’ 6 Summer Questions with various fashion businesses around the city, we bring you our interview with Tara, brains behind La Lovely Vintage!

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Tara for the past couple of years. We are in an entrepreneurial / spiritual book club together and have been there to support and encourage one another on this journey of life. It’s been an honor to see her passion evolve. From doing markets and shows, to having a little camper for her boutique, to officially opening up a brick and mortar shop, her evolution is inspiring.

How long have you had a penchant for vintage?

I have been fascinated with vintage and antiques since I was a little girl, their story and history inspires me. I’ve always been attracted to the look and feel of vintage the same way many people are attracted to designer names. I started buying vintage around the age 12, this is when I bought my first baby blue typewriter.

La Lovely Vintage

Give us a brief history of how you started La Lovely Vintage?

La Lovely Vintage started in my closet! I opened an online shop through Etsy in 2011 as a fun way to express myself creatively by combining my love for vintage, design and photography. In 2013 my vintage vision went mobile with the intent to share my love with my city. I always knew I would own a small business but to be honest the traveling and selling at markets I copied from my grandparents (the real OGs) who traveled the United States in a mobile home selling jewelry.

 What are your fashion inspirations?

I’m mostly inspired by the people walking around who dare to create their own style. I want everyone to be able to dress in a way that reflects their personality and mood in confidence. Seeing that inspires me to follow my own style.

What is the inspiration behind what you select for your boutique?

My mother mostly. I’ve always been obsessed with my mother’s vintage wooden box collection, jewelry, books, crystals and plants. Today I just select what I find unique, beautiful and useful. I’ve always been inspired by the diamond in the rough, seeing potential in items most people would overlook, do to their location. In a consumer driven and wasteful age, being able to give vintage a beautiful and useful second life is exhilarating.

La Lovely Vintage

How would you describe your style?

Free flowing. Timeless. I love the 70s! I’m all about natural tones with pops of color. I like to think I remove the frumpiness but combined the elegance and comfort of vintage into a lovely but also realistic style that can be worn today.

What’s coming up for you this summer?

This summer I’m taking a break from markets and shows to focus on my new storefront (3040 Blake St. #100 Denver, CO) and the Rino community. I see this summer being full of events at the shop. I want to connect and grow this community before I hit the road again in 2017.

SAVE THE DATE!!!!!!!                                                                                                       Denver, CO. On Thursday may 14th, ILY | ILEY, LoHi’s newest women’s boutique, invites you to the in-store Grand Opening Launch Party. Located at 2525 15th St. Unit 1C from 6pm-10pm. Come shop and enjoy 10% off your entire purchase.

Just a few blocks from The Highland Pedestrian Bridge, LoHi’s newest women’s fashion boutique, Ily | Iley, has opened!!! Co owners and stylists, Ilyse Mark and Bailey Lemark, have perfectly curated a fashion haven and bring a higher standard of boutique shopping. Located directly across from destination bar, Forest room 5, Ily | Iley makes a clear statement of individuality and brings Denver a new, truly unique, shopping experience.

The start to Ily | Iley is truly a story of destiny and fate. The two met briefly at a party in Miami while both were coincidentally living in New York City. However, the hustle and bustle of the city did not allow them the time to nurture a budding friendship. It wasn’t until years later that their friendship truly began here in the mile high city.

“We both had the vision of filling the major void in the fashion market here and we realized there was an opportunity for us to introduce a unique shopping experience to Denver that was not currently offered,” replied Ilyse.

And thus, the two fashion mavens began to build their brand, Ily | Iley, a combination of their names, Ilyse and Bailey.

Where others lack innovation and vision, ILY| ILEY is always looking beyond the expected and ordinary. Refusing to carry over saturated brands, this boutique stands at the top of what’s on-the-verge in contemporary fashion. Two levels of diverse and versatile shopping, you will find a range of today’s cutting edge collections. The girls offer an even more eclectic shopping experience, by also carrying a small inventory of unique, hand picked vintage apparel, accessories, and housewares.

“Fashion is a lifestyle and an attitude expressed through your own unique style. We live and breathe fashion, new and vintage, and incorporate both into each of our wardrobes. We want to offer our customers the opportunity to shop & explore the vast spectrum of choices and possibilities, that the fusion of both vintage and modern apparel have to offer,” express Ilyse & Bailey.

This is the ultimate location for the style savvy female looking for chic wearable designs and options to expression her personal style through fashion.

But it does not stop there!!! They offer another attraction that sets them apart from others. ILY| ILEY is not just a boutique, it is a full service styling team. Both Ilyse and Bailey have a resume in personal shopping and styling, and offer their talents and discerning eye to enhance one’s individual style. With their services, they find creative and insightful uses for garments and accessories for you to make the most out of your wardrobe.

“We believe the possibilities are endless when you know how to dress for your body type and learn how to expand your entire wardrobe by styling single pieces into so many different outfits. As style consultants we can help, and we cater to your own personal style and lifestyle,” says Ilyse and Bailey.

The list of exclusive styling services offered are closet clean-out & organization, personal shopping and styling (in house or in store), and travel packing. “You will be happily surprised by what you can wear and would have never thought to try on.” (For more information about their services, visit their website @ ily-iley.com )

Ily | Iley

Last Tuesday we got the chance to visit Ily | Iley boutique and IMG_6218I fell head over heels in love. Not only was the space incredible, but all of the merchandise they carry is unique and unlike the rest of the boutiques in Denver. They are also located in one of the best neighborhoods in Denver, Highlands. You open the door to the store, and it feels like you just stepped into a boutique in Soho, NYC, you suddenly forget that you’re in Colorado. They carry a variety of merchandise that ranges from new to vintage. Their merchandise also ranges in terms of clothing to house wear items. They feature small artists and designers in their shop, as well as well-known designers such as Jonathan Adler.

Store owners Bailey Lemak and Ilyse Mark were briefly introducedIMG_6231 to one another at a party in Miami and immediately hit it off. They both had unique and outgoing styles, and personalities to boot. Unfortunately, the hustle and bustle of NYC, where they were both residing, did not allow them the time to nurture a budding friendship. However, several years later, they were reunited in the young and upcoming city of Denver. Both with passion for fashion, all things vintage, and the idea of an all around fabulous life style,           Ily | Iley was born.

Both owners were tired of the bohemian style boutiques they were seeing pop up all over Denver. They found a niche in the market IMG_6226and decided to pounce on it. They love mixing the old with the new, which is why they carry vintage items as well as the in-style, brand name items. They aren’t your typical boutique, they mix the west coast with the east coast and bring you original, Denver style. The store is classy yet eclectic, it’s bold and lively. You can tell how much hard work and passion went into the process of opening the store. So much of their personality and style translates into the store, and that’s why they are loving what they’re doing.

Ily | Iley is also not just a boutique, it is a full service styling team. Both owners have a resume in personal shopping and styling. They offer their own talent and unique ability to dress someone based on an individual’s personal style. They find creative and insightful uses for garments and accessories for you to make the most out of your wardrobe. They are a one stop shop, for all your needs.

Denver Boutique Tour

Last Thursday Brandi and I were out and about running errands. While we were out,  we got the chance to visit both Class Act Collective boutique and Whorl shop, to pick up items for our spring market photo-shoot. It was a lot of fun meeting both of the owners and getting to see the different collection of boutiques Denver provides.

At Class Act Collective we were greeted with a warm welcome by Alexis, the owner. She gave us a tour of her space image2and welcomed us in with open arms. She carries an eclectic variety of merchandise. It ranges from black leather leggings to elegant lacy dresses. She has fun jewelry and accessories suc h as hats and purses. She also carries menswear which is hip and spunky. Even the outside of her boutique screams exciting. Alexis herself has a very loud image1and electrifying personality and it shows in her boutique. Brandi even got to walk away with a super cute baby blue Chanel style patch purse. We had a lot of fun looking around Class Act Collective, if you are looking for the perfect outfit at an affordable price, Class Act is definitely the place to go!

After Class Act, we stopped by Whorl shop in Highlands. image3The minute we stepped in the store we were welcomed by Michael, the director of operations and Megan, the owner. Whorl has a very sophisticated feel to the boutique, as well as a cozy feeling. Whorl carries a variety of clothing that is all fashion forward image4and unique. You can find basic items as well as items you can wear for a formal event. The merchandise Whorl carries is very sleek and suave, even their sweatshirts are classy. 1070 Bannock Street
Free and open to the public

Ily | Iley launches a holiday shopping experience that is diverse in design and uniquely inspirational to Denver shoppers

On Saturday, December 13th, the Ily | Iley team, consisting of best friends Bailey Lemak and Ilyse Mark, bring their shared passion for fashion and covetable vintage to the Golden Triangle in a unique holiday shopping experience at the Fashion Denver headquarters. Shoppers will be able to pop down to 1070 Bannock Street in the Golden Triangle from 10:00am-6:00pm and avoid the crowds at the mall while buying truly unique fashion pieces.

ily | ileyThe start to Ily | Iley is truly a story of destiny and fate. The two met briefly at a party in Miami while both were coincidentally living in New York City. However, the hustle and bustle of the city did not allow them the time to nurture a budding friendship. It wasn’t until years later that their friendship truly began here in the mile high city.

“Individually, both of us saw in the other, a reflection of the perfect mixture of similarities and differences in our own personal styles. Fashion soul mates.” says Bailey.

“Together we both had the vision of filling the major void in the fashion market here and we realized there was an opportunity for us to introduce a unique shopping experience to Denver that was not currently offered,” replied Ilyse.

And thus, the two fashion mavens began to build their brand, Ily | Iley,  a combination of their names, Ilyse and Bailey.

When they began brainstorming on how Ily | Iley will provide something new in fashion retail, they decided to order limited inventory in the styles they carry. When an item is sold in a size, it is not reordered, allowing them to create an exciting shopping experience by offering something fresh and different each visit.

ily | iley

“We strive to offer a dynamic and eclectic collection of lifestyle brands for the customer who seeks unique statement pieces, and sleek wardrobe staples that can translate into any occasion and season.” Say Ilyse and Bailey about building their vision and brand.

The trunk show will include  a wide range of perfect holiday ensembles, soft and cozy knitwear, functional and fun outerwear and everything in between. Come do some holiday shopping for yourself and loved ones while enjoying cocktails, appetizers, and socializing. Shoppers will receive a 10% discount off all clothing purchases over $200.00.

Grand opening of STRITCH

Denver is going to be welcoming a new boutique, Stritch. The shop will focus on highlighting local designers, as well as global brands. The celebration will begin on Friday, Nov. 21 at 3326 Tejon St. in LoHi. Although the store will be open all day, starting at 5 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m., the event will have a red carpet, champagne, raffle, and more.

Stritch“I am so excited to open a store and contribute to the growing Denver fashion community,” said Megan Timlin, founder and owner of Stritch.

This is no ordinary retail opening. Stritch is a fashion experience. Their sales staff is trained on every brand we sell, providing customers with extensive product knowledge and customized suggestions. Not only do they carry local designers, but the store has curated a selection of brands from L.A., New York, London and Copenhagen.

“I think to a lot of customers this diversity will have a particular appeal,” said Timlin. “In addition, we are so excited to be a part of the growth of the LoHi area, as our boutique is positioned in a really fantastic location.”

Part of the inspiration for this boutique is Timlin’s love of the local Denver fashion scene. For this reason she has sought out local designers. Stritch is thrilled to have Salwa Owens‘ and Megan Kaltenbach’s designs in the boutique.

Stritch

“We are so excited and honored to have MKaltenbach Jewelry represented in Stritch in its fabulous Lo-Hi Denver location,” Kaltenbach commented on the recent decision to have Stritch carry her jewelry. “Working with the fashion-savvy Strtich team has already been such a blast and we cannot wait for its doors to open on November 21!”

“I am thrilled for the grand opening of Stritch and to see some of my designs hanging on it’s racks! I have loved working with Megan and appreciate the fact that she has a clear idea of who her client is already. As a designer, that is the kind of buyer I want to work with, and the kind of boutique I believe will do well,” Owens said regarding her experience of working with Timlin.

The fully renovated space features an inviting 1,500 square-foot space that includes rustic elements that compliment the custom design work by Jodie Roth Cooper throughout the store. Taking it a step further, the Stritch team has created a mobile boutique, Stritch on the Run. Timlin was determined to find a bus that captures the essence of the shop and could go anywhere in the city.

Stritch is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information about Stritch, please visit www.stritch.co, call 720.468.3250, or visit their location in LoHi. The Great Hallmark Makeover: HMK!

I have many memories of the Hallmark store in my local at the Aurora Mall. I would save up my allowance to buy a card for my BFF in California or buy cat holiday ornaments for our family tree. Hallmark was always our go-to gift stop. I remember the light fragrant smell of potpouri, and the friendly middle aged women that would greet me and point me in the right direction of what my gift giving sensibilities felt like seeking out.  I could spend hours in there.

Flash forward to 25 years later and the Hallmark store that I remember has transformed into the beautiful HMK! I recently visited the HMK store in Cherry Creek North at 2940 E 2nd Ave. Not knowing what to expect of the new store, I walked in and my jaw dropped and my eyes got big. There was so much to look at and so much of it was fashion related!  HMK Cherry Creek Upon walking into HMK, I was greeted by a friendly employee who immediately offered me a delicious warm cookie. I asked for a tour of the store and she took me to every nook and cranny telling me about the products and customization service offered on almost all of the products in the store. Customization could be done on bags, journals, jewelry, scarves… really, anything that they carried could be customized, and who doesn’t LOVE customized accessories!
