IMG_7121Denver, CO- October 15th 2015

Last Thursday, the Fashion Denver team ventured to The Studios at Overland Crossing for the “The Show: A Haute Couture Runway Show” and boy, was it quite the show!

Sponsored and produced by  Aesthetic Nurse Specialists LLC, The Show was put on as a fundraising event to promote skin cancer awareness. Featured designers included: Andrea Li, Maggie Burns of Marie Margot Couture, Francis Roces of Kimono Dragons,  Michael Sullivan of The HAUS, Parasite Eve, Stephanie Lauren, Margaret Sanzo, Julia Rhoden, Gabriela Martinez, Carlos Melendez, Andreas Tsagas and Gino Velardi.

From glowing jewelry, to live snakes on the runway, to extravagant evening/bridal gowns that looked as though they came straight out of a fairy tail, we were visually spoiled with an array of couture!

The Neiman Marcus Spring ’15 Trend Event

Last night, the Fashion Denver team got a chance to attend Neiman Marcus’ Spring 2015 Trend Event. The night was full of delicious goodies, hot new fashion trends and throwback music and styles. IMG_5444

We started the night with delicious “mocktails” that Ace restaurant had provided. We were also provided scrumptious little treats by Yours Truly Cupcakes, who also created an awesome display wall that went perfectly with their desserts. It was a great way to create the perfect ambiance for the night.

The fashion show consisted of hot new trends hand picked by Neiman Marcus’ Fashion Director Ken Downing. There were many trends to look out for, and watching them all go down the runway made everyone excited for spring. It also looks like this spring will be an homage to the 70’s, bringing us back to more of a bohemian look.

Here are just some looks that will be trending this Spring:

-The New Bohemian: Jet set meets gypsy in boho blouses and tunics,  distressed denim, embroidery and maxi dresses

Extended Hands of Hope Kickoff Fundraising Event

On Saturday, January 17, we got the privilege to attend the Extended Hands of Hope Kickoff Fundraising Event.  The event was a great way to bring people together to learn more about sex trafficking and the organization. The night helped benefit the first emergency shelter for teen girls rescued out of trafficking in Colorado. It was a night full of excitement and hope.

IMG_5244The night had started out with drinks, food and a silent auction while the talented Hazel Miller band played in the background. The items that were donated for the silent auction were spectacular, there were so many great items to bid for. It was a fantastic start to the night.

Before the fashion show began, there were a few powerful speakers. One of them being Sgt. Daniel Steele of the FBI Lost Innocence Task Force. Sgt. Daniel had talked about the facts of sex trafficking and the fact that even one person being sold into sex trafficking is one too many. He had left the audience with a quote by AlbertIMG_5128 Einstein that stuck with me: “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.” It really makes you think about the awesome work Extended Hands is doing, trying to save girls from a life of suffering.  The other speaker, the host of the night, and the woman who started Extended Hands of Hope, Kristen Harness talked about her experience and the reason why she started this non-profit. Her speech was very inspirational, she brought the audience to tears with her words about the sex trafficking industry and the stories she had to share about the children and women who have to experience this struggle.

The night ended with a stunning fashion show, which showcased the works of Francis Roces of KimonoDragons and Joy Rojanavongse of Prim Era Designs. Both collections were beautiful and were beautifully inspired.

Joy from Prim Era had crafted her collection specifically for this event, she had said that her inspiration for the collection came from her Thai culture, which translated into much of her gold fabrics that she used. She had said that much of the fabrics came from her mom and grandma because they are “fabric hoarders.” The collection consisted of a lot of classic silhouettes, but all crafted in a unique, funky way. The clothes in the collection had a very harmonious vibe to it, the clothes spoke for themselves down the runway. The makeup was also a great expression of the Thai culture, full of gold. It was a great collection, it was full of life and culture.

The KimonoDragons collection was also a sight to see walking down the runway. Francis had said that he was inspired by hybriding different cultures and ideas into one collective idea. It’s not about conforming to one culture, it’s about hybriding the culture into an entirely new idea. He was also inspired by kimonos, because of their versatility and how they are able to fit all different body types. The collection was stunning and had a great use of different patterns and fabrics. Seeing the designs come down the runway, you are able to see Francis’ inspiration, and his ability to translate it into his clothing. The patterns and fabric he used were a great way to liven up the designs. The collection was elegant, yet he put a funky twist to every design, it’s fresh and new.

The night brought together amazing people for a good cause.  We left the event with a full heart and more knowledge about the cause. It was a great kickoff for Extended Hands of Hope, there was never a dull moment.

Happy Birthday Hailee Grace!

I first met Hailee and Grace at a trunk show a couple weeks ago and quite honestly, just absolutely LOVED hanging out with these young and fashionable entrepreneurs!

At the trunk show, I only got to get a tiny glimpse into what they carried at their boutique so it was quite a joy to walk down from the Fashion Denver headquarters, through the streets of Denver, into Larimer Square and find their stylish boutique nestled amongst the hustle and bustle of a Denver evening and full of beautiful spring fashions.

Hailee Grace was full of stylish fashionistas and the lines to the fitting rooms were full with arms piled high of affordable fashions. That is one thing that I love about this boutique! You’re not breaking the bank to look like a million dollars!

Their neighbor TAG provided delicious appetizers for all those that came to this event AND… YUM!! The most beautiful looking cake was waiting to be cut!

desertI love celebrating the success of small business and I look forward to seeing their business unfold… literally 😉

GlamBomb 4 took place this past Wednesday night, April 16. An event not to be missed, Glambomb took place at a stunning mansion in the highlands with breathtaking views of downtown Denver. The home won the Mayor’s Design Award in 2011. Glambomb is a series of events that showcases jewelry designers from around the country to benefit charity. This season’s event benefited First Descents, a Denver nonprofit organization that sends young adult cancer survivors to outdoor camps for a trip of a lifetime.

The event displayed 21 jewelry designers, some local to Colorado and others from around the county. Many of the designers were in attendance, allowing customers to talk to the designer and learn about the inspiration for the piece. All of the jewelry was one of a kind and very unique.Mansion

The sold out event was wildly successful and raised enough money to send at least 3 campers on a trip.

Fashion Association Denver First Friday

The second night of Denver Fashion Weekend was the Fashion Association Denver’s Spring into Style event for First Friday. First Friday takes place the first friday of every month in various art galleries, museums and studios around the Denver area. For the month of April, the Fashion Association Denver hosted Spring into Style, which took place at the new Fashion Design Center in Denver. Sponsored by Fashion Denver, the Fashion Design Center of Denver and the Fashion Arts fund, the event had a unique concept.

Each designer was allowed to bring one model dressed in their designs (or wear their own designs themselves.) Each designer had a chance to talk about their unique design and mingle with the rest of the Denver fashion industry. The Denver Fashion Truck and Judith and Joe, two mobile boutiques also joined the fun and allowed guests a chance to browse their new merchandise.

Denver Fashion Weekend Night #1

This past weekend 303 Magazine hosted Denver Fashion Weekend. On Thursday April 3, the event kicked off with a street style fashion show. The multilevel venue, near city hall was perfect for a fashion show.

DFW

The show highlighted three  DFW’s sponsors and allowed them to show off their Spring/Summer 2014 collections . Schomp Mini, associated with BMW’s Mini Cooper, went first showing a collection of graphic T’s and weekender duffel bags. Burton, a snowboard company, displayed their activewear collection ranging from shorts, T shirts and hoodies to backpacks and hats. Last but not least, Ducati, a motorcycle brand, wrapped it up by showing their collection of jackets and T shirts highlighting their brand name.

The event kicked off Denver Fashion Weekend well, and started the buzz for the events to come.

Fun at a Girls Night Out

This past Tuesday evening, I stopped by Porch Light Real Estate Group on S. University for a collective trunk show featuring Live Worldly, Hailee Grace, and Feline Swimwear.  This uber chic office was transformed into a mini boutique and I was able to get a sample of these 3 companies, all female owned and operated.  It was pretty much a “Girl Power” kind of evening with wine and snacks.

Trunk Show funOf course, since we are sponsored by Luna Bars, I brought over the latest and tastiest of protein bars making sure that the girls took boxes home for when they may get a little hangry (hungry-angry… oh wait.. is that just me?).

I tried on 3 different swimsuits and finally settled on mix and match top, florescent green, harkening back to my 7th and 8th grade years, but now, a little sassier. I felt like a teenager and a slumber party having so much fun gabbing with the girls and running around in my swimsuit.

Feline Swimwear

Live Worldly operates online bringing the latest of fashions that are giving back to the community. They brought a variety of athletic gear from yoga pants, running jackets, to a cute selection of bicycle messenger hats.  They carry a collection of designers and brands from all over the world!

Live Worldly

Hailee and Grace, a boutique located on Larimer Square, is a fairly new boutique, getting ready to celebrate their 1-year anniversary. The boutique is named after the owners Hailee and Grace, two stylish friends with a passion for fashion. We had a great time hanging out, being silly, and taking #selfies 🙂 I walked away with a really cute lace bralette. I think I’ll need to pick up more colors!
