“We are Blackberry Maverick and we “take the retro woman to the edge” by merging the Classic Betty & the Unpredictable Fox. An unprecedented combination that brings together Lexis love of the vintage 50’s and Leslies bold, edgy force of the 80’s- with a modern twist. We are a woman’s apparel brand creating fashion for the fearless female.”

Baker-front_grandeThe gamine blonde (Leslie Robertson) grew from a weirdly dressed outcast to a feature on the Today Show, Time Magazine and fashion celebrity at Colorado College. The fiery redhead (Lexi Raney) grew from an imaginative kid nicknamed “bobbins” to a graduate from FIDM fashion school in San Francisco.

They met,  got lost in their own world of conversation finishing each others sentences and sketching the same designs. They knew they were each others yin and yang, with that Blackberry Maverick was born.

Piper Cub Joins The Denver Music Scene

It all started in line, waiting for drinks at the Big Wonderful in the Rino district of Denver. While waiting in this exceedingly long line for drinks, one jitterbug, Brandi Shigley, yells out “I hope no one minds if I dance!” While the dancing party of one develops, another jitterbug comes up next to her and joins in, which so happens to be Daniel Morgan. This is the very moment when Brandi and Daniel became instant friends.

Screen shot 2015-05-12 at 4.28.53 PMFrom the moment they met, they instantly began playing music for hours. Both are extremely passionate about playing out to different mixtures of people and both decided they should start a band. This is where Piper Cub developed, through the love of music, dance and people.

The name Piper Cub came from Brandi’s memories of flying with her dad. 6 months ago, Shigley wanted to change her musical name to Piper Cub Gonzales (Gonzales is Shigley’s birth name). When deciding what to name their band, they both agreed that it would be a great time to put Piper Cub into motion.

Both Brandi and Daniel’s vibe and voices are very complimentary to each other. While learning how they’re sounds intertwine, they are also learning more about each other along the way. “It’s fun because I’ve never started a band with someone I don’t really know at all. The adventure of making music together while getting to know one another is really exciting!” states Brandi.

Since Piper Cub is so new, they are still developing their sound. However, they both agree that it feels like indie-folk- pop with beach inspirations.  It is a fun mix of sound that will be unique and comfortable to listen to.

Brandi has been playing music in her own band B.Sue since 2008 and Daniel has played music across the country, most recently in the desert town of Tucson, Arizona.

“Playing in Piper Cub has been an incredibly organic experience, one that is evolving each day into something truly special and representative of who we are as individuals,” says Morgan.

Their first show is on First Friday, June 5th at Bannock Street Garage. They’re putting their setlist together which includes new music and the revision of some of their individual music that they’ve put out from their previous band life. This is a show you don’t want to miss!

SAVE THE DATE!!!!!!!                                                                                                       Denver, CO. On Thursday may 14th, ILY | ILEY, LoHi’s newest women’s boutique, invites you to the in-store Grand Opening Launch Party. Come celebrate with co-owners, Ilyse Mark and Bailey Lemark, and indulge in two levels of shopping, while enjoying cocktails, appetizers, and socializing. Located at 2525 15th St. Unit 1C from 6pm-10pm. Come shop and enjoy 10% off your entire purchase.

Just a few blocks from The Highland Pedestrian Bridge, LoHi’s newest women’s fashion boutique, Ily | Iley, has opened!!! Co owners and stylists, Ilyse Mark and Bailey Lemark, have perfectly curated a fashion haven and bring a higher standard of boutique shopping. Located directly across from destination bar, Forest room 5, Ily | Iley makes a clear statement of individuality and brings Denver a new, truly unique, shopping experience.

The start to Ily | Iley is truly a story of destiny and fate. The two met briefly at a party in Miami while both were coincidentally living in New York City. However, the hustle and bustle of the city did not allow them the time to nurture a budding friendship. It wasn’t until years later that their friendship truly began here in the mile high city.

“We both had the vision of filling the major void in the fashion market here and we realized there was an opportunity for us to introduce a unique shopping experience to Denver that was not currently offered,” replied Ilyse.

And thus, the two fashion mavens began to build their brand, Ily | Iley, a combination of their names, Ilyse and Bailey.

Where others lack innovation and vision, ILY| ILEY is always looking beyond the expected and ordinary. Refusing to carry over saturated brands, this boutique stands at the top of what’s on-the-verge in contemporary fashion. Two levels of diverse and versatile shopping, you will find a range of today’s cutting edge collections. The girls offer an even more eclectic shopping experience, by also carrying a small inventory of unique, hand picked vintage apparel, accessories, and housewares.

“Fashion is a lifestyle and an attitude expressed through your own unique style. We live and breathe fashion, new and vintage, and incorporate both into each of our wardrobes. We want to offer our customers the opportunity to shop & explore the vast spectrum of choices and possibilities, that the fusion of both vintage and modern apparel have to offer,” express Ilyse & Bailey.

This is the ultimate location for the style savvy female looking for chic wearable designs and options to expression her personal style through fashion.

But it does not stop there!!! They offer another attraction that sets them apart from others. ILY| ILEY is not just a boutique, it is a full service styling team. Both Ilyse and Bailey have a resume in personal shopping and styling, and offer their talents and discerning eye to enhance one’s individual style. With their services, they find creative and insightful uses for garments and accessories for you to make the most out of your wardrobe.

“We believe the possibilities are endless when you know how to dress for your body type and learn how to expand your entire wardrobe by styling single pieces into so many different outfits. As style consultants we can help, and we cater to your own personal style and lifestyle,” says Ilyse and Bailey.

The list of exclusive styling services offered are closet clean-out & organization, personal shopping and styling (in house or in store), and travel packing. “You will be happily surprised by what you can wear and would have never thought to try on.” (For more information about their services, visit their website @ ily-iley.com )

Sahar Paz “Find Your Voice” Book Reading

Book Reading with Sahar Paz
April 25th, 2015 3-5pm
Fashion Denver HQ
1070 Bannock Street

“Words. It’s the one thing we all have in common.” Words are what helped Sahar Paz write the book “Find Your Voice: The Life You Crave is a Conversation Away” in which she shares the stories that not only took her voice, but brought back her voice. The book also serves as a guide for you to peel back your layers to listen and understand your inner voice. Brandi Shigley with Do What You Love, Love What You Do will have the pleasure of hosting Sahar Paz for her “Find Your Voice” book reading on April 25th at the Do What You Love World Headquarters, 1070 Bannock Street. The book reading will be free and open to the public.

FYV-cover-300x300Through “Find Your Voice” Sahar shares how she found the right remedy for living. She’ll help guide you to form daily habits that help you learn how to tune-in and listen to yourself. And once you have centered yourself, “Find Your Voice,” will help you build a vocabulary that is unique to your personality. And soon, your everyday practice will be the way you voice what you deserve with peace and clarity. This book is more than a memoir, it is a tool for reflection and a guide, based on Cognitive Behavior Therapy, for tuning in to your authentic, powerful inner voice to create the life you crave.

Screen shot 2015-03-09 at 7.39.49 PMSahar was shamed and shushed from the ages of 9 to 25, her thoughts, wardrobe and existence as a girl were ignored. Early in her life she didn’t have the emotional vocabulary to release the negative energy she was digesting in revolutionary Iran. Her family then relocated to the United States or Denver, Colorado to be exact when she was in third grade. This became a new life for her, the land of the free. Trying to endure a new home became harder than surviving the Iraq-Iran war. It took her over 15 years, several failed attempts at partnership and suicide to understand and overcome the effects of her previous experiences and learn to live with them.

This is not the first time Sahar Paz and Brandi Shigley have come together and collaborated. They first met in 2005 in which Brandi offered Sahar a scholarship to her “Do What You Love, Love What You Do” workshop. With the help of Brandi, Sahar became inspired, motivated and armed with the tools and techniques to go from a dreamer to a doer. They officially collaborated for the WorldLove tour, which was a workshop that inspired people to speak from the place where their soul and personality intersect, turning dreamers into doers.
