Alumna Brandi Shigley to speak at special Metro State recognition series

Entrepreneur Brandi Shigley, founder / dreamer /doer of Fashion Denver and a Metro State Alumna, is inspiring others by speaking about her journey, the road to starting her own business, and becoming a successful graduate at Metro State’s Self-Made Series on April 13th, From 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.

The new Self-Made series is a three-part program that focuses on acknowledging local individuals who have established themselves as unique leaders in the Denver community.

Brandi has been involved in many projects, from a handbag designer to an aspiring musician, and is recognized as a significant business leader in Denver. The Colorado native, who graduated from Metro in 1999 with a degree in Communications, is excited to return to her roots to share her experiences.

“I feel like my degree has played a HUGE role in my career as an entrepreneur and I’m thrilled to be speaking at my alma matter!” she says.

Brandi’s been an entrepreneur for 11 years, starting out designing her own line of handbags and now owning her own boutique. Despite her passion for fashion, she doesn’t focus on it exclusively; she specializes in entrepreneurship in general.

Some of her many accolades include being featured in CNN Money, named a top “up and comer” by 5280 Magazine, and a “Mastermind” in Westword, a truly great honor that selects 5 people who are changing the cultural landscape in Colorado.

Brandi even looks to round out her successes with a music project, b.sous (prounounced Bee Sue), which creates catchy tunes that anyone will want to get up and dance to. For more information visit the b.sous blog at http://bshigley.tumblr.com/music.

Brandi truly is making waves in our wonderful Denver community, working hard to achieve her dreams and encouraging others to do the same. Come enjoy her presentation as she discusses her creative road to entrepreneurial success! Free food and drinks will be provided.
