New Fashion Denver Intern

KellieMy name is Kellie Mortimer and I am going to be the new Fashion Denver Intern for the Spring of 2014.  I am a Southern California native who moved to Denver four years ago. I am currently a senior at the University of Denver, majoring in Marketing. I studied abroad in Paris, France last fall, where I studied fashion and French. I am hoping to pursue a career in the fashion industry when I graduate in June. I spend my free time skiing, traveling and of course, shopping.

I want to learn all about the fashion industry while interning for Fashion Denver. I am hoping to learn about the local fashion industry here in Denver and use my marketing skills in the fashion world.

Our Fashion Denver Summer Team!

Well! Summer is here at Fashion Denver and we’ve got so many exciting strategies, events, and fun coming up! I wanted to introduce you to the summer team!

Fashion Denver Summer Team

Tory Rust, originally from a small town in North Dakota, has joined Fashion Denver as the Photography and PR Intern. When she is not writing about herself in third person she can be found photographing fashion shoots, coordinating with other creatives, networking, photographing fashion shows and going to school at the University of Denver. Tory specializes in editorial and commercial photographic work and believes that creativity and motivation are the key to a fulfilling life. She is really excited to be part of the Fashion Denver team this summer!

Brandi Shigley is me. I started Fashion Denver in 2004 after returning from the west coast on wild adventure with my handbag business, b.shigley designs. When I returned, I knew that my passion was to take all of the lessons I’ve learned along and help other designers build their business. I spend my time working with designers and other entrepreneurs and helping dreamers become doers. I also make music with my band b.sue, love rollerskating, and love spending time with my beau and our 3 legged dog Olive.

Jessica Goellner is a Junior at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.  She is majoring in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Marketing.  Jessica was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and is hoping to come back after graduation and pursue her dream of becoming a fashion stylist and image consultant.  Her passions include fashion, music and rock climbing.

Welcome to the Fashion Denver team, Maya!

Welcome to the Fashion Denver team Maya! Today was Maya’s first day as Fashion Denver blogger and assistant! Besides loving fashion, Maya is also a research assistant at the Children’s Hospital. Maya will be writing about the events that we produce and take part in as well as meeting new designers and attending fashion events. We are thrilled to have her on the team!

Maya joins the Fashion Denver team!

Emily Bormann, welcome to the team!

We are thrilled to bring Emily Bormann on board with Fashion Denver! Emily is our public relations intern, Fashion Denver blogger and will also be assisting with fashion event production, as well as sharing her fashion tips! Welcome to the team!

At a young age, Emily knew she wanted to be involved in the fashion industry. Playing with paper dolls and Barbies quickly turned into filling her school notebooks with all sorts of fashion sketches. As the time for college applications approached, Emily knew only one true love, fashion design.

Colorado State University furthered her passion, where she studied Apparel Design and Production. She became involved in: assisting in the production of fashion shows, learning to create and sew garments, illustrating new design ideas, designing unique and innovative textiles, and finally creating her own line for her senior capstone.

Her college experience came to an end following an internship working at Zac Posen in New York, however Emily knew this was actually the beginning of her career in fashion. After spending a year working with a local custom clothing company, she had the opportunity to showcase a design for Westword’s Atropia Fashion Show. Now, Emily finds herself furthering her fashion career as a public relations intern for Brandi and seeks to one day become a designer.

Belldini Colorado Sweepstake Winner Details!

A follow up to our post about a lucky winner effected by the Colorado Fires. Read first post here.

Belldini Colorado Sweepstake Winner Details:

September 7, 2012 will prove to be a big day for Colorado mom Genevive (Genny) Johnson and her friend Jennifer Ronhovde! Genevive and Jennifer who were both diagnosed with blood cancer are the winners of a sweepstake hosted by Los Angeles based women’s apparel line Belldini and will be receiving brand new fall wardrobes. Belldini had originally planned to reward one mom with the wardrobe, but after a heartwarming request they decided that both Genny and Jennifer would each get their very own wardrobes.

Genny, a single mom of 2 suffered from two forms of blood cancer, the only cure to which was a stem cell transplant. While going through her suffering, Genny realized that the awareness regarding stem cell transplant was extremely low. She drew strength from her situation and helped develop a non-profit geared toward conducting college bone marrow donor drives. During the course of her treatment, Genny befriended Jennifer, a 26 year old who found out about her condition 3 days prior to her wedding day. Jennifer underwent her own transplant, but has relapsed several times and continues to be in treatment. Belldini faced a tough decision to select the winner from the pool of deserving candidates. However, after reading the inspiring entry submitted by Genny’s mother, who also made the request for the wardrobe to be shared by Jennifer, Belldini concluded that both women would be winners of the grand prize!
