Spring is here!

As the weather gets warmer, its time to break out your Spring wardrobe.  It may be time for a wardrobe update and there are so many new trends this season to try! My friend, Kit, and I decided to try them out and mix them with our existing wardrobes. Here are our 5 favorites.

Trend #1:  Aztec Prints

Aztec prints are huge this season! I paired this with a  simple black maxi and a statement necklace for a fun and easy look. This is a great way to try out the print before you dive in.

Trend #2: Crop Tops
Crop Top

Crops tops are another trend I’ve been seeing a lot of this Spring. Paring them with a higher waisted maxi skirt is a great way to rock a crop top without showing too much skin.

Trend #3: Fringe

Fringe is in again! This is a trend that can be worn so many ways, from boots, purses, dresses and shirts, you can’t go wrong! I chose a black dress with fringe on the shoulders, this would be perfect for a girls night out!

Trend #4: Jumpsuits and Rompers

RomperJumpsuits and Rompers are a great early spring trend for when its still a bit chilly. This black and white printed jumpsuit is comfy, causal and cute. When it gets warmer, switch to a shorter romper.

Trend #5: Lace

Lace is such an easy update for your wardrobe. You can try anything from dresses to skirts to tops, even lace shorts are very trendy.  I love this dress, you could easily take it from day to night with some fun accessories.

What are your favorite trends for this season? Happy shopping!

Whitney Alexandra

Whitney Alexandra

What an amazing meeting today with Whitney Alexandra! We had met back in 2009 when she assisted with  fashion show production at a museum event.  Our encounter was brief and in between that time and today, she has gone on to do an internship in NYC for Macy’s marketing team, helped start up, launch, and run an accessory business, and is now doing her own thing as a personal stylist, editorial stylist,  fashion columnist, and sneaker connoisseur.

She continues to pave her own path and diving into the depths of her passions. We are hoping that we’ll work with her in July for the Fashion Denver summer fashion market!

What a wonderful break in the day to meet with such an inspiring, motivating, and stylish woman!

Style File: Brad Benefiel

Brad Benefiel is a wonderful friend of Fashion Denver and when we decided to close down the retail side of things and convert it into the office to turn dreamers into doers, he designed our dream space! Complete with a treehouse,  a bar, a foosball coffee table, and much much more, he created a space that allowed for us to accomplish all of our dreams!  Brad Benefiel

Brad stopped by today, looking stylish, as per the usual. He’s rockin’ his shirt he bought in Argentina by an Argentian company along with some pants by H&M and sneakers designed by DVS. The sneakers are actually designed for fixed gear cyclists and provide support for the petals, all the while looking ever so stylish.

Fashion Denver Style Files! Alexandra Hilker

We ran into Alexndra Hilker PR gal at Neiman Marcus at an event at Neiman’s and right away we knew we wanted to interview her and get more of a sense of her style and background!

-Introduce yourself:
PR gal, animal lover, mountain adventurer. I got into fashion following my college graduation by moving to Paris, where I worked in trend forecasting and editorial. After two years abroad, I began to miss this great state and made the move back to Denver. I love this town and all it has to offer. It’s an exciting time to be living in such an ever-changing city, and I am eager to see what the future holds for fashion and culture in the Mile High.

-How would you describe your personal style?
Comfort comes first. Gravitating towards anything oversized or asymmetrical. I love adding edgy or boyish touches to feminine looks.

-Where are you on at 2pm on a Tuesday?
Up to my knees in bills and our PR budget! Otherwise I’m pulling looks for shoots or working on inspiration for our next event.

-What is your favorite item of clothing in your closet?
Tied between – a vintage YSL cropped tuxedo jacket with crystal buttons and a blue velvet patterned pair of bell bottoms (the latter gets more wear).

-We are having the best time dressing for fall; what is your favorite season to dress for?
I will agree with you there, Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons for dressing. The aspect of layering makes a look so much more interesting. Dark colors and rich tones, unique textures, chunky knits, comfortable boots, and lots of hats in every variety – Fall!

-If you had a theme song, what would it be?
Dreams by Fleetwood Mac. It never will get old.

-You provide major fashion inspiration for us; who is your fashion inspiration?
Books, everyday streetwear, and of course blogs are always great outlets for inspiration. I really enjoy Hilda from Freshnet, Style By Kling, Trine’s Wardrobe, Adenorah, afterDRK and many more. Unexpected styling is always so cool and imaginative.

-I never leave my house without:
Water, iPad, good tunes, flats or converse for tired feet, lip balm, iPad, a woodsy fragrance, and Carbs!

Style around Denver

2013-08-30 00.38.15

One of our favorite places to shop for groceries and other fine eats is right up the street from our headquarters at Tony’s Market ! Last night while making a quick pit stop to grab some eggs, the manager on duty was decked out in this stylish outfit. He found the long jacket at a thrift store for $4.00. We love to see people who have fun in their daily jobs! Thank you for bringing a smile to our face with your unique style!
