Turbo
Lovin'
by Kristi Reineke
When did you start designing?
I
would say I really started designing seriously about a
year and half ago.
How would you describe the style of your designs?
My
designs are simple, retro and at times, bright.
Where
do you find your inspiration?
"I'm
inspired by geometric shapes, 80's -- games, styles, and
tv shows.
Fun color combinations and computer nerdiness."
What
materials do you usually work with?
I
work with anything that can be screen printed.
What
is the story behind the name of your line?
The
name of my line, Turbo Lovin', was actually created by
my brother for an art project in college. He printed the
phrase on women's underwear and I instantly fell in love.
I thought it was so fun I wanted to see it on other items
like shirts, hats, bags-- anything really.
What is the first piece you ever made?
The
first piece I ever printed was a black thong with cardboard,
cheap fabric pant and a worn out screen. It turned out
surprisingly well and became the inspiration for my hoodies
I currently print.
If
you could dress anyone in the world, who would it be?
This
will sound anti-climactic--- I would love to see the boys
from the t.v show "The Big Bang Theory" wearing
Turbo Lovin, I think they would look great in it.
Where can we find your designs?
You can find my designs at turbolovin.com,
Fashion Denver and Division West in Cherry Creek North.
