Jessica Perdue Designs
How would you describe the style of your designs?
I would describe my style as vintage and Native Americana inspired, with a trendy and modern edge. Most of all I would describe it as eclectic.
Where do you gain inspiration from? From my Dad who was a Leather worker, and owned a leather shop back in the 70′s and 80′s specializing in jewelry and accessories. I was fascinated by his creativity…and now have found my own creativity within myself. I am also inspired by fashion, art, music, nature, other cultures, and past decades. And of course my children, who’s imagination is so pure and raw. My 8 year old son always reminds me that everyone is an artist in some way, shape or form…and that no matter what they make, draw, paint, create…it is their own personal art. I think of that every time I create a piece of jewelry.
What’s the first piece you ever made?
The first piece I made and sold, was a bib necklace with gems, hand sewn rolled roses taken from different kinds of fabric, and a ribbon used to tie around the neck.
What’s the story behind the name of your line? The name of my line is J Perdue Designs, coming from my name Jessica Perdue. I kept it nice and simple!
What materials do you usually use?
Right now I am using a lot of genuine leather. Some of it is recycled, and some not. But all is lightweight, so the earrings won’t tug on your ears. I also like to take vintage belts and make them in to bracelets. I am constantly taking things apart, whether it is fabric or jewelry, and using them to incorporate in to my own pieces. I have a lot of my Grandma, and Great Grandma’s old jewelry that are still in mint condition. Most of it I have kept, and wear myself!:) But I have taken apart some of their beaded necklaces and use the beads in some of my pieces.

Some of my pieces are one of a kind, and others can be duplicated. If there are certain colors and designs you like, I also can make custom pieces.
If you could dress anyone in the world who would it be?
Right now it would probably be Rachel Bilson and Hayley Helmericks from a local band, Snake Rattle Rattle Snake. I love their styles, and they both exude such confidence.

I am a Makeup artist, Esthetician and Jewelry designer, so I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to be creative in all aspects of my life. And I am thrilled to be part of Fashion Denver, and other designers that have such a passion for what they do!
