Watch a little girl play with a doll’s hair; the results are often something out of an avant-garde horror film. Poofy, pouty, wild, and a just a little bit frightening with their untamed ‘dos, these dolls come to life on the runway for the salon Rebelle by Tootsies at the “Crybaby! You Can Brush My Hair…”
Combining the rebellious and untamed hair of a girl’s favorite toy with the fashions of top designers Melissa May, Francis Roces, Fallene Wells and contributions by Buffalo Exchange, baroque and baby doll fashion will complete the look of these all-too creepy dolls from childhood memory.
In addition to the fashion and hair on display, “Crybaby!” will offer complimentary tea party-like snacks, with tiny appetizers and bubble gum cocktails for guests. Dancing and raffles for hair products and gift certificates to both Tootsies and Rebelle locations will also provide excitement and entertainment as guests mingle amongst the “dolls.”
Rebelle by Tootsies (3921 Tennyson Street), the innovative salon in Denver’s Highlands neighborhood, is the ideal choice for bringing such artistic and inventive hair to the stage. Specializing in flair and style, Rebelle Salon brings to hair artistry inspired by the elaborate coiffures popular during the French Revolution as well as a touch of punk and modern hipness.
Located in the booming North Denver neighborhood, The Highlands location is the third popular salon in Denver for the Tootsies team, sisters Lauren (aka Roxy) and Castle Searcy. Rebelle opened in September of 2008, following the success of the original Tootsies locations in Wash Park (1021 S. Gaylord Street) and The Highlands (4230 Tennyson Street). Both locations have received 5280 Magazine’s “Top of the Town” awards.
Tickets for the “Crybaby!” show are on sale at all Rebelle and Tootsies locations and are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Doors open: 7pm. Show: 8pm.
