Dear Colorado Designer,
Fashion Group International of Denver is seeking the designer who will be known as a national brand in the next 5 years to compete in RISING STAR 2013. We want to discover and celebrate the most exciting new fashion design businesses in the state in nine (9) different categories. This letter is an invitation to you or someone you know that fulfills the competition criteria, to enter the prestigious RISING STAR 2013 challenge.
Fashion Group International (FGI) is a forum and a force for promoting the advancement of both new and seasoned professionals in the fashion industry. FGI is a global non-profit organization established in 1930 with more than 6,000 members throughout the world. FGI Denver was established in 1958 and presently has over 150 members! RISING STAR is a juried competition that fulfills part of our mission to:
- advance professionalism in fashion and its related lifestyle industries
- provide a public forum for issues and the business of fashion
- encourage women and men to seek career opportunities in fashion and related industries
The RISING STAR Award is a bi-annual signature gala event that honors and showcases emerging design and fashion talent in Colorado. In addition, it supports our scholarship fund and community outreach education programs. This year we are delighted to share our fundraising efforts with Dress For Success Denver, founded to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
In applying for this prestigious award, you and your business will gain a myriad of positive marketing through the media coverage offered to FGI. The winners of each design category will be announced and honored at a kickoff event in midsummer 2013 (time, date and location TBD).
Then on Friday evening, September 6, 2013, FGI along with the many RISING STAR sponsors and donors will host an amazing gala at the new McNichols Center, in Civic Center Park at 144 W. Colfax, Denver, featuring the category winners, a runway show and culminating in a spectacular awards presentation to the overall RISING STAR 2013 winner!
Read the application carefully and submit ALL requested material and pictures in .jpg format ON or BEFORE May 6, 2013, by 11:59 pm, to be considered for this year’s award. You are invited to attend the March 5, 2013, Red Drinks Denver at Adrift, 218 S Broadway, for a complete discussion of the application process.
