Megan Kaltenbach
Fashion Denver first worked with Megan Kaltenbach back in June when we sponsored her trunk show at the Forest Room 5. (Check out pictures from the event here!)
I sadly wasn’t a part of the Fashion Denver team back in June, but was lucky enough to meet Megan Kaltenbach for a meeting last week to see where the talented jewelry designer is now – months after her successful trunk show.
I wanted to meet Megan for multiple reasons. One reason being that her jewelry is AMAZING. Second reason being that, like me, she was a student-athlete in college striving towards a future in fashion.
If you don’t know about Megan Kaltenbach, trust me: you want to.
Quick Background:
Megan moved to Colorado at the age of four and later went on to attend Smoky Hill High School where she excelled in track. And when I say she excelled I mean, she excelled. She collected 14 State Titles, was inducted into the Colorado Women’s Sports Hall of Fame and was awarded a scholarship to the University of North Carolina where she was a 2-time NCAA champion.
In other words: this girl is awesome.
After graduating from UNC with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, Megan moved to New York City to pursue a career in modeling. So, not only is she an incredible athlete, but she’s also gorgeous! She worked with high profile clients such as Cosmopolitan, Acne and Marlies Dekkers, just to name a few! However, Megan is so humble that I had to find that information out myself! Megan worked at various showrooms in NYC where she became very intrigued by the fashion scene.
In 2010, Megan started making necklaces and wearing her designs to fashion shoots, showrooms and around NYC. To say the very least, people started to take notice of the beautiful, hand-made jewelry and before she knew it she was receiving several requests for her necklaces. Back in 2010 is when Megan first realized her passion for designing jewelry, and today she designs for her MKaltenbach brand full time.

So, where is Megan now after her successful trunk show back in June?!
Megan is currently living in Denver, Colorado with her husband (they are adorable!) where she blogs and designs for MKaltenbach full time. The MKaltenbach brand is growing and adapting to the constant changes in the fashion world. She believes that inspiration comes from anywhere and everywhere: nature, vintage pieces, family, etc.
Megan is working to bring her designs into boutiques that she believes coincide with her vision. She also plans to start selling her jewelry through wedding boutiques that seem fitting for her designs. After making custom jewelry for a wedding, Megan has decided to venture into making personalized bridal jewelry. Whether that be for the bachelorette party, or the ceremony itself, custom made pieces offer something unique and one of a kind for the wedding. She wants to start making more custom made jewelry for bachelorette parties so that the girls have something special to wear the day of the party as well as any day after that! (Keep your eyes peeled, there is a possibility that she will sell these through etsy!)
When you purchase a MKaltenbach design you can ensure that it was handmade and that all of the pieces were handpicked by the designer herself. When I saw MKaltenbach jewelry in person for the first time last weekend at the Frock Shop Sample Sale, I ended up walking out with one of her stunning, custom made necklaces. There is so much originality, detail and time put into each piece – deciding on only one design was the hardest part of my day.
I had an awesome time chatting with Megan last week and loved seeing how down to earth she is, despite all of her great success. We laughed, listed off our favorite bloggers, and reminisced on college athletics while basking in the sun in front of the Fashion Denver headquarters.
I wish Megan all the best and look forward to seeing her brand continue to grow to new heights.
