Job Description

Apparel Design and Development Assistant

The Cotery is looking for a skilled and eager Design and Development assistant to aid in the process of designing and developing all style blocks and providing operational assistance to the Design and Produciton teams.

Key Functions:

  • Research and identify trends that are relevant to The Cotery style block and option offerings.
  • Create detailed CAD sketches for design, tech packs, and help prepare sketches for code in.
  • Proactively shop the market on a regular basis for ideas and inspiration.
  • Work with designer to execute organized and accurate technical packages.
  • Track and organize lab dips, strike offs, samples and maintain seasonal calendars.
  • Measure, prepare and attend fittings. Help execute vendor comments.
  • Assist in day-to-day projects including filing/organizing/ copying /updating tech packs/ etc.
  • Work cross departmentally with other team members as needed.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Comfortable learning new concepts and speaking about technology.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented, and dynamic start-up environment.
  • Passionate about creative pursuits, interested in fashion, art and culture.
  • Degree in fashion design, or comparable experience.
  • Ability to pick up new concepts quickly and ability to communicate effectively thru email and other web based applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Experience with Computers a Must. *Microsoft Office (Excel a must). Email. File-sharing
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and In design a plus.

Job Description

Apparel Production Manager

The Cotery is looking for an entrepreneurial and highly driven Production Manager, who is responsible for planning, coordination, and evaluation of the production process.  This includes ensuring the production and delivery of our products and services. While helping to set and maintain The Cotery standards on cost, delivery, time frames, quality, and vendor and customer communications.

Key Functions:

  • Evaluate Designer submissions for build out feasibility, approve, and follow thru to delivery checkpoints. Adjust and place art as needed.
  • Initiate and manage Designer production facing emails and inquiries.
  • Manage day-to-day vendor relationships as well as ensure long-term factory developments w/ a focus on cultivating strong and open relationships. Provide vendor reports on strengths/weaknesses.
  • Sourcing and managing stock vendor fabrics’ availability and relationships.
  • Uphold and manage costing sheets and negotiate on price increases/vendor terms.
  • Work with Design and Development on costing and liability reports for all RMAT- fabrics, trims, collateral, etc. Ensure that sales margins are met and budget goals are adhered to.
  • Familiar with best production sewing techniques, and knowledge on fabrics, printing techniques and production lifecycles.
  • Track all development and production lead times and manage WIP reports to ensure timely delivery.
  • Ownership of production guidelines/Vendor terms. Help ensure guidelines are up to date and encompassing of The Cotery’s needs.
  • Ensure vendor and The Cotery adhere to all compliance issues within the company and industry standards.
  • Work with Design/Development departments consistently to ensure product
  • Help to establish and build out testing guidelines and methods within The Cotery framework.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree in fashion or Industrial design, or other experience in line with the offer.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and be responsive via email/web based applications for in house team and with global partners in different time zones.
  • Focused on business success for all parties, making win – win partnerships whenever possible.
