Fierce in the City 2 Wrap Up

Last night I attended Fierce in the City 2, produced by designer and producer Salwa Owens. This highly anticipated show brought together live music and fashion on an October outdoor Sunday evening.

When I arrived, designers, models and stylists were grouped together in the hustle an bustle of hair and makeup, practicing walks, and getting fitted for the fashions that were heading down the runway. The energy behind the scenes was exciting! I saw many familiar faces from our fashion industry and met many new faces!

While the hustle and bustle of the preparation for the show was happening, I hung out with my friend Dorian Phaero and Jeremy Williard in a quiet room. Jeremy designed Dorian’s outfit for his performance, bringing in that 90’s fresh feel.

7:30, the show began! It’s always lovely when a show starts right on time! One of the things that I loved about this show was the combination of live musical performances paired with a segment of the fashion show. It was a really entertaining element that flowed seamlessly during the show.

Musical performers included Vincent Powell, Season 13 top 20 finalist from American Idol 2013; Season 11 American Idol finalist Devan Blake Jones; Denver violinist Mia Herlinger; pop artist Dorian Phaero and choreographer and dancer Karen Carlson and Suzanne Simone.

Part 1: Andrea Li’s jewelry. Models dressed in white with beautiful pieces designed by Andrea Li. Each piece of jewelry was jaw dropping creating a sense of elegance and romance with each model that walked down the runway.

Part 2: Zofia Wosinska of ÉSTAINE. ÉSTAINE designs unique, luxurious accessories and apparel inspired by the hauntingly beautiful shapes, colors and patterns of the dyes used in diagnosis. Models wore black with pops of color from the beautiful accessories of ÉSTAINE.

Next up was leather and fur designer Andreas Tsagas. This segment added a sizzle of sexy! I fell in love with a few pieces that came down the runway, including the hooded purple sassy number.

Next up Salwa Owens dressed amazing fierce women in our community, not models, real women that are bold and strong and doin’ their thang! It was so much fun to see these women walking the runway. Salwa’s ready-to-wear clothing line is perfect for the woman on the go. From business to out on the town to the gym, Salwa covers all the basis!

We took a little intermission, just long enough to get warmed up and get a beverage and it was back to the grand finale of the show…. Salwa’s evening gown collection, fit for a queen!

This show was absolutely fantastic! Sticking with the theme of “Fierce” it was absolutely on point with the fierceness that came out in the show… all coming from the brains of Salwa Owens who took her fierce passion for fashion and brought together an amazing group of designers, stylists, and entertainers for a night to remember!

I love this image of Salwa right after the show ended, in her element of success shining, all the while being a loving mother of 3, a designer, a producer, and totally FIERCE!
