I met Hana at the clubhouse of my apartment and what a bright joy of beauty she was to my day!! We immediately hit it off and when I learned that she was a jewelry designer that had just moved here from Cali, I got really excited to scoop her on up into the Fashion Denver family. Hana brings her gorgeous line of jewelry, T H A L K E N, to the 5280 and how we are excited!
What was your first memory of fashion inspiration that you can remember?
I had extremely sensitive skin when I was little so anything that I wore had to be soft. Instead of underwear I would wear leotards under my clothes because they were more comfortable. So I would say that my first memory of fashion inspiration is comfort. 🙂
Tell us one of your fashion icons or designer influences?
Vera-Mother-Hugging-Wang! My line is primarily jewelry right now but I want to expand into Bridal. I got married 2 years ago and decided to make my wedding dress. It was a lot of work but I really enjoyed the finished product. I got a lot of inspiration from Vera Wang. As far as jewelry designer influences, all of the jewelry designers in Catbird NYC are amazing! WWAKE is probably my favorite. 🙂
What can you bring to our fashion industry here in Denver that may be unique from the Cali fashion world?
I love creating simple, unique, well made pieces that you can wear everyday no matter what the occasion. I’ve found that these kinds of pieces are hard to find which is why I started T H A L K E N.
What is one of your favorite pieces that you have ever designed and why?
The first would be my wedding dress. It was quite a challenge but I love how it turned out. It even got into the bridal magazine The Knot. I am creating a small bridal and clothing line that I plan to launch this fall 2017.
My favorite jewelry pieces are the solid 14k gold petite square earrings, the gold-filled petite staple earrings, and the gold-filled minimalist cuff. I love how simple and elegant these pieces are. They are those pieces that become a part of you.
Describe your personal style (what you wear) and your design style (what you design)
I love slouchy sweaters, good-fitting jeans, brown leather boots and sandals, and a great pair of overalls. Second hand heirloom pieces are some of my favorites. I love bright colors but I always find my favorite outfits combine shades of black, white, and earth tones. I like to experiment with all different hairstyles and colors but I recently have gravitated towards a short blonde pixie haircut. As far as make-up, a good mascara with a little brown eyeliner add some blush and I’m good to go. Natural, simple, and comfy!

My husband, coffee, and great blanket.
