Brandi Shigley leading fashion camp

After taking some time off after the passing of my beautiful and creative Momma, I’ve finally got the spark back to do our fashion camp! My mom was such a brilliant artist and fashionista in her own right and I want to dedicate this fashion camp to her. She has tons and tons of creative materials that we’ll be using, and my hope is that every camper gets to go home with a little piece of my mother’s creative spirit, on top of their little creative genius minds!

This fashion camp we’ll be making some fall accessories (scarves and mittens) to go along with their staple t-shirt turned into a dress or something fun. And as per the usual, our campers will get to meet some of Denver’s creative community.

This edition of fashion camp features award winning bridal couture designer, Maggie Burns along with Chris Gyorgy who will lead a super fun activity making pom poms and headbands, and Mikael Olson will be showing the campers how to do an artful … Read more!

Life, death, and everything in between.. and fashion!

“I don’t ask why I have this cancer. It does me no good. Instead I need to fill my thoughts with positive thoughts.”
– Vicki Shigley

It’s hard to believe, but Fashion Denver was founded 15 years ago.  You can read the history of our beginnings by clickity clicking on this link.  Through the history of Fashion Denver, we’ve produced fashion markets, fashion shows, owned a retail space (2008-2012), worked with several small fashion businesses helping them to create their roots to grow. In 2018, my beautiful Grandmother passed away. My aunt, mom and I cared for beautiful Victoria and I got to experience her life as it came to an end here on earth. One of the things that my aunt and mom both emphasised was, “Learn how to be a caregiver as you may be doing this for your mother.”

Last year, my amazingly beautiful mother Vicki Shigley, began chemo for a … Read more!

Curves of Life Fashion Show and Brunch

Curves of Life Brunch and Fashion Show Review
Written by Jaime Sachs

Over the past few years couture connoisseurs have watched as the fashion world has opened up to not only welcome, but celebrate, people in all of their differences. I remember being amazed as Winnie Harlow took on the notoriously non-diverse Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, skin aglow despite her Vitiligo, and Tess Holliday gracing a Cosmopolitan cover, bravely facing backlash to assert that all sizes can be beautiful. These women made history in fighting absurd beauty standards, blazing a path that, yes, true beauty can be found in all of our unique attributes.

On Sunday June 30, fashion was similarly used to empower young women afflicted with Scoliosis, or a curvature of the spine. That vital objective is why I feel blessed to have attended and helped out with the Curves of Life Fashion Show for the Curvy Girls program. For those of you who don’t know this program, Curvy Girls is an international Scoliosis support group that aims to raise awareness of Scoliosis while also providing support to sufferers in showing that they are not alone. As Curvy Girls is aimed at teenagers with Scoliosis, the Curves
