When were you first inspired to design? Ever since I was a young girl I’ve always loved to hand craft; from painting & drawing to designing jewelry, accessories & clothing!

What will you be showing at Fashion Denver’s Holiday Market? One of a kind, handmade, treasures for the mind, body & soul.

If you had to pick one piece from your collection that most represents your personality, which would it be? The “Dream On” necklace, a beautiful raw amethyst stone intricately hinged, which empowers peacefulness, happiness & contentment, this is also my birthstone!

A Seriously Sexy Soiree

CondomCoutureInvitation-HR-1024x658Friday, November 8th marked the 40th Anniversary for the Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center. It also marked the day that I did something I never could have guessed I would do: attend and help produce a Condom Couture Fashion Show.

Condom Couture was held at the Boulder Theater and was completely unique from any other fashion show that I have attended in that it featured designs entirely made out of condoms. Yes, I said it: condoms. All fashions were the unique creations of local artists, activists, fashion designers and fashionistas, designed to help promote safe sex and sex positivity.

I worked closely with Brandi Shigley, Justice Kwesi Kwarteng, and Carlos Estrada from the Global DJ Academy to finalize the music, prep the models and ultimately help produce one of the sexiest and most distinctive fashion shows I have ever been to.

The event began with a 40th Anniversary Video Presentation, followed by a live auction with Don Martin.  The live auction items included a Cabo Getaway, a Breckenridge or Beaver Creek Condo Stay, a couple’s night out in Downtown Boulder, a private helicopter ride, a hot balloon ride and many more seriously awesome items! Maggie Burns: Making waves on the red carpet and now the big screen!

I have been exceptionally eager to meet Maggie Burns for quite some time now, so when Brandi and I made a quick trip to her Bridal Studio, let’s just say I was beyond excited.

Marie-MargotMaggie Burns is the owner and designer of Marie-Margot located in Denver, Colorado.

Her designs have been seen on the runway, on fashion shoots, and have graced the red carpet at the Academy Awards.  Maggie Burns was named the Rising Star in the Bridal Category from Fashion Group International of Denver back in 2011, and has now added yet another notable accolade to her already impressive résumé. This summer she was contacted to make costumes for the upcoming film “Dear Eleanor,” starring Jessica Alba, Luke Wilson and Josh Lucas.  The film was being shot at the Jester Theatre in Boulder, CO and at the Paramount Theatre here in Denver.  The movie follows the story of two teenage girls (Liana Liberato and Hunger Games’ Isabelle Fuhrman) traveling across the U.S. in 1962, during the chaos of the Cuban missile crisis, in search of Eleanor Roosevelt.  The movie is set to hit theaters in 2014.

Fashion Denver Holiday Market Final call out for designers….

Fashion DenverOur Fashion Denver’s holiday market is  officially full upstairs but we’ve opened up the downstairs so even more designers can participate in this fabulous fashion market! Besides fashions being sold upstairs and downstairs we will also feature some of Denver’s musical and dance performers! Plenty of action will be happening all throughout the mansion on this special day!

Imagine a mansion full of local fashion with fashion shows coming down the grand staircase.

Clothing and accessory designers as well as beauty companies are invited to come and set up a mini shop and share your collection with the public, media, and boutiques that attend. You keep all sales and we promote this event like crazy and just in time for the holiday season!

The market opens to the public at 10am and runs until 6, with 3 different fashion shows that run through the course of the day.

The benefits for involvement are as follows:

This is Tory here! I had a great shoot yesterday with Fashion Denver client, Megan Kaltenbach. She makes wonderful custom jewelry.
