When Fashion Meets Charity

Wildfires are no stranger to Colorado and it is no secret that this summer they have had an incredibly devastating affect on our beautiful state, as well as the people in it.  So, when we heard that  Quarterly Karma was hosting Fire in the Sky, an event to benefit all those affected by the Colorado wildfires, we were on board! Cluster Studios

Fashion for a good cause?  What could be better than that?

Quarterly Karma is a non-profit event planning company that collaborates with the community to raise monetary funds and awareness for worthy causes through unique events.

The event was held on Saturday, September 7th at Cluster Studios in Denver and featured a trunk show, runway fashion show and live music by Redbull and Early Bird // Night Owl.  A portion of the proceeds from the event went to Do Your Part, Inc’s fund for the Colorado wildfires, with 98% of every dollar made going directly to the families who need it most. Partygoers enjoyed a few cocktails and ate from the most popular Denver food trucks, offering their support to the commendable charity.

The event hosted a young and lively crowd of Coloradans, making for an entertaining and upbeat … Read more!

Who is the 2013 FGI RISING STAR?

Who is the 2013 Fashion Group International RISING STAR of Denver?

That is the very question that lingered in everyone’s mind at the posh event held on Friday, September 6.

Who would be the RISING STAR for the 7th Biennial Signature Event Presented by FGI? I hope to build your anticipation so as to mimic my feelings that night.

The event started just as any upscale event should: on the red carpet.  Guests dressed in their finest and strutted into the McNichols Civic Center to a bustling crowd of Denver’s fashion elite. An exclusive group of attendees conversed over hors d’euvres, sipped specialty cocktails alongside designers and participated in a silent auction with proceeds being donated to Dress for Success Denver. Giant ice sculptures, upbeat music, and dapper attendees complimented the lavish event, with Denver’s finest eagerly awaiting the runway presentation to showcase the 14 entrepreneurs nominated for the award.  (Might I add, FGI knows how to throw a pre-party.)

Upon show time, the excited guests spiraled up a level to a scene strait out of New York Fashion Week.

Barrera International 2014 Autumn/Winter Collection

Asia met French Couture on the runway for a night of pure luxury and elegance. Barrera International took over the Space Gallery on September 5th, showcasing its 2014 Autumn/Winter collection.  I sipped cocktails with some of Denver’s elite designers, magazine owners, boutiques, stylists, fashion bloggers and media personnel in an intimate gathering prior to the runway presentation.

The Barrera International 2014 Autumn/Winter collection included six major elements: satin, silk, chiffon, wool, cashmere and seasonal blends. The runway show featured unique fabrics with just a hint of sparkle, and brought a contrast of color against the gallery’s white backdrop. The intimate runway presentation allowed for close-up views of the 40 looks, illuminating how much detail went into each individual piece. I was dying over the jewel-toned embellishments in the couture line, absolute perfection. Erroll Perkins and his team of make-up artists partnered up with Ted Medina and his team of hairstylists to create a bold, yet graceful look to compliment each design.  A pop-up shop followed the runway show where clients and guests were able to place customizable orders.

2013 Back to School Fashion Extravaganza

What’s more adorable than a Children’s Fashion Show? Obviously a Children’s Fashion Show that showcases Denver’s top designers and local fashions! The children, ages 5-14, from Lovely Footprints very own ORCHID program made their way out to the Children’s Museum of Denver on Saturday, August 31st, to strut their stuff for the 2nd Annual 2013 Back to School Fashion Extravaganza.

I was lucky enough to sit with one of the designers, Francis Roces of Kimono Dragons, and was very impressed by his Asian inspired children’s line coming down the runway, as well as the other designs being flaunted by the tiny models. Pinks and greens seem to be all the rage for back to school style, as well as casual blazers and cardigans for both boys and girls.

The event was hosted by Ya Girl Cedes from Radio Station KS-107.5 and had intermissions that incorporated performances by children in the ORCHID program.  It was a night full of fashion, dancing and fun for the whole family; what could be better than that?
