Recap of Versailles ’73

Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution

Thursday night was a truly incredible collaboration of talented people! I was very excited to be a part of the showing of Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution and the reception that followed (where I met Pat Cleveland…OMG! But more about that later).

The film was so interesting and well put together! I think, a lot of the time, people dismiss fashion as something that’s frilly and unimportant. Shallow, even. But what I’ve always felt is that fashion is a visual and artistic representation of where we are in history. Versailles ’73 captured that so well. It showed how five American designers, not taken seriously in the global fashion industry, were able to shatter the doubts of the rest of the world. They were able to prove themselves, and the fashion show at Versailles put American designers on the same plane as other respected designers around the world. These American designers came to Versailles to compete against the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Hubert de Givenchy, Pierre Cardin, and Emanuel Ungaro. The American designers, after putting on a fabulously entertaining show, then became household names. You might just recognize them: Anne Klein, Stephen Burrows, … Read more!

From Bummer to Blazer

Be sure to follow my blog!

I don’t think anyone truly appreciates a blazer like they should. It can take the simplest outfit and give it a little oomph. Whether you’re going to business casual, business, or just plain sexy preppy a blazer is your go-to item. Lately, you can get a blazer anywhere- Forever 21, H&M, Nordstrom, etc. Almost any store carries your basic black blazer and a variety of other (trendier) ones as well. If you’re only going to own 1 blazer, make it a black one, but if you already have that then be adventurous and try a pop of color or a new style.

I wore a blazer to cover up the fact that I was lacking “business casual” clothing, and it worked like a charm. Even with a simple v-neck and a great belt to pull together your outfit you can get away with some jeans and flats. Also, with Fall approaching it’s a great way to keep warm and stay cute!

Layers Are a Girl’s Best Friend

Be sure to follow my blog to keep up with all my outfits and quips!

As the seasons change, so does our wardrobe. The only issue is that even though it’s chilly out, it can quickly warm up or get even cooler. Warm layers on top of skinny jeans or leggings with boots is always a safe bet for looking cute and keeping cool.

If you’re feeling a little too casual add a lipstick or just commit with your glasses and a cute messy bun. Fall is much easier to work with because there are so many more relaxed looks you can work without worrying that you look too casual.

Looking forward to more fun, fall looks this season!

303’s Denver Fashion Weekend: Night One Oct 11, 2012

Photos by Cameron Devon of Devon Advertising

City Hall Amphitheater housed the lavish evening of 303 Magazine’s Denver Fashion Weekend’s first event. Photographers welcomed guests with sponsored backdrops. When inside, the decor remained simple as to promote the showcasing artisans. Even a Schomp Mini Cooper placed by a table of goofy accessories allowed guests to create their own photo booth. As the show was announced, a rush to find your seat quickly overcame the audience.

Representing the love of graphic tees and urban style of L.A., Kid Dangerous introduced Schomp Mini and 303 Magazine’s Denver Fashion Weekend in true catwalk style. Consisting of the youthful necklines, cuts, and lengths, all the tees were designed keeping in mind the wide variety of women’s body types. Playful slogans included “Party-party-party-party, Humpday, and LA Don’t ♥ U”. To complete the style, the graphic tees looked gorgeous with detailed leggings, acid washed jeans, and bold colored minis.

Haute couture hats by Kitty Mae Millnery was truly a standout collection of the evening. The line, consisting of cocktail hats, veiled pieces and a-symmetric brims, was crafted in elegant autumn colors of mauve, wine, and a brilliant amber yellow. Each piece was adorned with a unique … Read more!
