Relevant Goods celebrates 1 year

Relevant Goods 1 Year Celebration
Friday, September 9th from 6 p.m.-­ 9 p.m.
250 Broadway Denver, Colorado.

Denver’s source for clothing, accessories and gifts, Relevant Goods is on Broadway, in the Baker neighborhood will celebrate their first year in business next Friday. The event is a chance to shop, view the work of a local artist and celebrate a local business’ first year. Natalie Esquivel, owner of Relevant Goods, says “Relevant Goods is built on a balance of texture, ease and sophistication. It celebrates the urban and the earth in style.” The event is complimentary and open to all ages, no RSVP required. During the evening, Relevant Goods will offer small bites, cocktails and drawings for prizes and gift cards for the shop.

The evening also marks the opening of an art exhibition “Concrete Confetti” with local photographer and writer Risa Friedman. Risa documents architectural details and street art around Denver. Her art is marked with detail and color. Duane Toppings at the White Party

What were your obsessions growing up? 

I’ve always been obsessed with art.  It started out with my desire to be a cartoonist, then shifted to art history as I got older. Now, I love the artistic development of fashion.  Seeing my art in motion is a wonderful experience. 

How did fashion become the symbol for your creative expression?

After I retired from military service I had a difficult time adjusting to my new life.  Numerous combat deployments took its toll.  One day I bought a sewing machine and found my niche.  Now, my clothes have become an expression of who I am.  I’m a soldier, a biker, a feminist, a scholar, and an artist.  Being a clothing designer allows me to embrace all of that at once.

Do you see a stylistic connection between the things you do in your daily life that is reflected into your collections?

My clothes absolutely reflect me as a person.  I try and keep a cohesive line but also diversify my aesthetics with each garment to match my personality.  I’m always perfecting my construction and readjusting my design which is a replication of my own life changes. What inspires what you select for your pop up shop?

The season and venue are the two things that inspire the selection of clothing I’ll have in the Stylish Sparrow Pop Up Shop. Being on the brink of the fall transition has my creative juices flowing about how to adapt summer clothing into the next season. My mind is dancing with possibilities of clothing we can enough right now through October!

What do you see is a great trend in “summer into fall” fashion? 

My favorite “summer to fall” fashion hack is how enjoy white while also feeling true to the season change. I am so excited to share examples of how to wear white jeans in the fall! I’ll have some great things ready for you to try.
