A visit with Thomas Paul Althaus {Canned Goods}

Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure to spend time with Thomas Paul Althaus, brains behind Denver accessory company, Canned Goods. One thing that I’ve always noticed about Thomas is his absolutely positive energy that radiates to all that come in contact with him.

Canned Goods have been a staple in my wardrobe for over a year. As far as my wardrobe goes, I’m pretty simple, so I rely on my accessories to make outfits pop. And when I’m in Canned Goods, I feel glamorous! Upon further inspection of the fashionable pieces that he designs, one may be surprised to find out that they are all made with tin cans!

Fashion Denver Mini Market at Illegal Pete’s

Fashion Denver will host Babes on Bocce, a mini fashion market held on the patio of Illegal Pete’s South Broadway location (270 S. Broadway) on Saturday, September 5th from 3:00pm-9:00pm. This mini market will feature clothing, jewelry and accessories, and a unique opportunity to have yourself turned into a 3D customized figurine. This event is free and open to the public.

 

Fashion shows on the bocce court will be at 5pm and 8pm and will feature participating designers with hair and makeup being done by Flaunt Salon, Fashion Denver’s  new neighbors since the move, located on Larimer.

“I’ve known Jenn Armand, co-owner with her husband Andrew of Flaunt Salon, since 1984. It is such a fun experience to be working together in the fashion industry 31 years later!” says Brandi Shigley, founder of Fashion Denver.

LIMITED-RUN DESIGNER FASHION COMES TO DENVER

Lauri MurphyBoulder-based startup The Cotery is collaborating with Denver’s Buffalo Exchange back gallery to host a unique art show and pop-up shop bringing exclusive, locally designed, limited-run fashion to Denver.

The Cotery is an online marketplace where creatives can design and sell limited edition, small batch USA made garments with no upfront costs. The Cotery handles the production and the shipment to the customer (AKA the hard stuff), allowing the artist to focus on what they do best!  


Mantra by SDK-1The fashion art show “Cut and Sew” will showcase limited-run garments designed by local artists, accompanied by the original artwork which gave life to the clothing. Featured artists include Ancient + Future, Heather Taylor, JDP, Katy Zimmerman, Lauri Lynnxe Murphy, Samuel Mata, SDK, and Will Day.    

The event will be hosted by new and used fashion retailer Buffalo Exchange in Denver, and customers will have access to pre-selling designs as well as in-stock pieces which have been produced recently by The Cotery.
