Thank you Boulder Women’s Health for the amazing fashion show!

What an amazing time we had working with the Boulder Women’s Health organization. I (Brandi Shigley) emceed the fashion show while Stephanie (Fashion Denver assistant) worked on the production of the fashion show with Justice from JTA Group. All in all, the fashions were unbelievable! As photos are posted, we will definitely link to them! Imagine outfits and condoms made with 100’s if not thousands of condoms! They were so creative!!!! And, we raised $29,000 for the Boulder Women’s Health!!!

If you’re on Facebook, be sure to follow Fashion Denver and check out some of our behind the scenes cell phone shots. Professional photos coming soon 🙂

Fashion Denver Style Files! Alexandra Hilker

We ran into Alexndra Hilker PR gal at Neiman Marcus at an event at Neiman’s and right away we knew we wanted to interview her and get more of a sense of her style and background!

-Introduce yourself:
Alexandra
PR gal, animal lover, mountain adventurer. I got into fashion following my college graduation by moving to Paris, where I worked in trend forecasting and editorial. After two years abroad, I began to miss this great state and made the move back to Denver. I love this town and all it has to offer. It’s an exciting time to be living in such an ever-changing city, and I am eager to see what the future holds for fashion and culture in the Mile High.

-How would you describe your personal style?
Comfort comes first. Gravitating towards anything oversized or asymmetrical. I love adding edgy or boyish touches to feminine looks.

-Where are you on at 2pm on a Tuesday?
Up to my knees in bills and our PR budget! Otherwise I’m pulling looks for shoots or working on inspiration for our next event.

-What is your favorite item of clothing in your closet?
Tied between – a vintage YSL cropped tuxedo jacket … Read more!

Tess Vigil of 50 Dresses is offering sewing / design lessons!

50 DressesLocal seamstress and designer of Denver based label 50 Dresses by Tess Vigil is offering personal or small group sewing lessons in the RiNo arts district in Denver!

Tess’s notes…

Hi! I have 5 years teaching and tutoring experience, have a master’s degree in education, and have owned and operated my own fashion design label for the past 3 years. I’m always trying to meld my passion for sewing and design with my passion for teaching. I’ve taught summer camp programs to ages 6-14 at Colorado Academy in basic sewing, designing doll clothes, fashion blogging, and more. As you can see from my website, I mostly make dresses and separates, but I like doing small projects like aprons, pillows, etc with beginners.

I am open to personalizing a lesson to your needs, but here are a few styles of lessons I’ve had success with in the past:

•Kid’s sewing lesson- 1.5-2 hours, 1-2 kids age 6+. We go over basics of hand sewing, choose fabric for a small project like a doll dress or pillow, and work together to complete a project. Fun idea for a birthday party with a small group of girls!

•Do you have your own sewing … Read more!
