5 Elements Fashion Show brings visual art, fashion, performance art together
March 27th, 2013

Aurora Fox Theater
$20 admission OR $15 if you dress like a goddess

Fashion Denver and 3 Little Birds Salon partner up to produce artistic fashion show for the Athena Project Festival


The Athena Project is “a professional group of artists dedicated to supporting and expanding women’s artistic contributions to the Denver stage and the wider community” (www.athenaprojectfestival.org). Each year, the Athena Project hosts a festival to celebrate women’s contributions to art, theatre, music and, this year, fashion.

On March 27th, Fashion Denver and 3 Little Birds Salon are teaming up with the Athena Project to produce a fashion show centered around the elements of Water, Air, Fire, Metal, and Wood. The 5 Elements Fashion Show will showcase the work of local Denver designers and artists, who will give life to their given element through the design of their garments and costumes. Featured designers include Derek Keenan of Mukee, Alex Crawfurd of Feline Swimwear, Dawn Winslow of Dewdropz Garden, and Kasi of Polly’s Pleasures, chainmail fashion. 5 Elements will blend performance art and fashion into a unique show. FGIFashion Group International of Denver is seeking the designer who will be known as a national brand in the next 5 years to compete in RISING STAR 2013.  We want to discover and celebrate the most exciting new fashion design businesses in the state in nine (9) different categories.  This letter is an invitation to you or someone you know that fulfills the competition criteria, to enter the prestigious RISING STAR 2013 challenge.

Fashion Group International (FGI) is a forum and a force for promoting the advancement of both new and seasoned professionals in the fashion industry.  FGI is a global non-profit organization established in 1930 with more than 6,000 members throughout the world. FGI Denver was established in 1958 and presently has over 150 members!  RISING STAR is a juried competition that fulfills part of our mission to:

  • advance professionalism in fashion and its related lifestyle industries
  • provide a public forum for issues and the business of fashion
  • encourage women and men to seek career opportunities in fashion and related industries

Red Drinks Denver: Style Night aims to unite all things fashion in Denver!

Red DrinksRed Drinks Denver meets the 1st Tuesday of every month as open call for those who want to convene, connect and conspire to further highlight Denver’s reputation as a stylish city.  Take a monthly tropical break and join us at the city’s best tiki bar, Adrift, 218 S Broadway, Denver.

By providing a platform for style conscious businesses and designers to speak, introduce and connect with other members of this very special local community, Red Drinks Denver encourages growth, creativity and professionalism among the fashion and style community.

Apparel and accessory designers, photographers, make-up artists, hairstylists, bloggers and models; boutique owners interior, furniture and home accessories designers are just a few professionals who regularly attend.

Each event is a dialogue to connect emerging designers with resources highlighting the creative individuals who make Denver a little better looking.  This month members from Fashion Group International (FGI) Denver chapter are rolling out the application process for their biennial competition to find the next national name brand designer from Colorado, to be announced September 6, 2013 at Rising Star 2013, the red carpet gala.

The 5th Annual Green Is the New Black Fashion Extravaganza

The Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities presents the 5th Annual Green Is the New Black Fashion Extravaganza on March 8th and 9th. This year we unravel ancient myths and legends, some familiar and some mysterious, to draw out age-old themes of earth and humanity that continue to be relevant in our current social climate. Fashion and environment dominate the journey. High fashion, as well as wearable art, graces the runway with multi-media backgrounds, music and theatrics. Over 100 creatives from throughout the valley and beyond come together to create a show that dazzles and dares!

Myths and Legends is taking a step up technically, as well. Thanks to True Nature Healing Arts and Alchemy, CCAH is exploring the use of “projection mapping”. This new technology allows images to move and wrap around the set bringing these images to life.
