Denver Community Fashion Meeting!

DENVER COMMUNITY FASHION MEETING

Meeting Details:
Create Denver and representatives of Denver’s fashion community invite you to attend a follow-up meeting to the November 14th meeting, to continue exploration of the development of a local fashion trade association.

At this meeting, we will review and discuss the results from the online survey and determine next steps. This discussion will be facilitated by Stephanie Blake, principal at Blake Communications.

Location & Parking:
The Cherry Creek Arts Festival office is located at 2 Steele Street, Suite B-100, in the Bank of the West building — which is located on the corner of Ellsworth and Steele, directly east across the street from Macy’s and Safeway — which are on the far-east side of the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.

PARKING: Please do not park in the bank parking lot, as it is strictly enforced for bank customers and permit holders only. FREE PARKING is available on surrounding streets and at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center across the street.

Call out for designers for FROCK OUT 2012!

DPL’s Fresh City Life announces a call to designers.  For their third design competition, Frock Out: Come Undone, Fresh City Life partners with Brandi Shigley of Fashion Denver and they’ll host Denver’s young, creative designers for Spring’s most exciting fashion event.

Frock Out: Come Undone: Independent Designers Challenge

The Denver Public Library’s Fresh City Life  and Brandi Shigley / Fashion Denver announce a call to designers for Frock Out: Independent Designers Challenge – a runway show and exhibit.

Juried designers will show five designs (one designer’s choice created especially for Frock Out, and four challenge pieces that can be new or from the designer’s current collections).  Twelve designers will be accepted for this runway show and exhibit.

Challenge Requirements-

·      All designers must schedule an interview with the jury panel on Saturday, January 21st 9:00am-1:00pm. To schedule your interview time, please contact carrie@fashiondenver.com .

·      Portfolio reviews will be held at the audtions.

·      One challenge piece must be completed, ready to exhibit and delivered to The Denver Public Library Fresh City Lounge on or before March 14.

·      The other four designs must be completed and ready for runway rehearsal on Wednesday, April 18.

2012 changes at Fashion Denver!

One of the missions of Fashion Denver is to help grow our local fashion scene, to help our local independent designers grow their businesses, and to spread the word that Denver ain’t no cow town and we’ve got TONS going in in our fashion scene.

Fashion Denver started out as a business in 2004 strictly focusing on our seasonal fashion markets and business development. We opened up a retail shop in 2009 until now and since then it’s been such a fun adventure! However, one of the things that I am most passionate about has gone by the wayside…

The past 2 weeks I have been doing a lot of consultations with future entrepreneurs. One of the most important things that I say to them is to “Stop doing what you don’t love to do, and focus on the things that you truly love!” As I would say this, I found in my heart not getting fulfilled with what I truly LOVE to do, which is consulting, small business development, my “Do what you love. Love what you do” workshops, and event production.
