Designers @ the Westword Music showcase

DESIGNERS! Want to be part of the Westword music showcase? On the heels of a sold-out event in 2010, this year’s Westword Music Showcase will be bigger and better than ever! On June 18, a crowd of over 12,000 people will take over the Golden Triangle to see 150 local bands and a handful of national headliners (including Chromeo, Yo La Tengo, Del the Funky Homosapien, The Epilogues and more) on 16 stages. Grab a table in the marketplace and showcase your business to the masses!

Email amanda.lindelow@westword.com and mention you’re a friend of Fashion Denver for a discounted rate on a spot in the marketplace. (The market is usually $750.00 but for Fashion Denver friends it’s $500.00).

This will surely be a fantastic event!

My trip to NARS & a fantastic contest too!

Today I meandered on over to Nordstroms to check out the book launch of “NARS Makeup your mind: Express Yourself” book and met with the Director of Global Artistry, James Boehmer.  Between 11am and 6pm today, they were doing cosmetic consultations and boy were they busy.

Women were lined up in seats with professional NARS makeup artists sharing tips and techniques, all from the new book.  I loved looking through the book featuring women from all makes and models, shapes and sizes, colors and culture.  The neat thing about this book is that it has a translucent page that shows you exactly where to add the makeup. It looked to be really helpful.

As a woman who wears minimal makeup and has such bad vision that when I take my glasses off, I’m sure my makeup is not where it should be when I try to put it on, it was really inspiring to see this book.

I asked James a few questions.

1) What is your favorite thing about a woman’s face?

To sum up his answer, skin.  Skin is an important base to start and if your skin isn’t in good condition, then that makes a … Read more!

Fashion Denver’s look of the day and preview to our spring market!

Brandi says she likes this rainy weather. I myself am on the fence about it. I miss spring! And speaking of awesome stuff you can do in spring – Were we? We are now! – don’t forget to stop by the Fashion Market at Your Sunday Best this Sunday! Today’s looks of the day are both spring-themed and feature pieces that are going to be in the market for sale and on the runway at the fashion show.

The first look is a dress from Gabriela Designs, a really nice stretchy dress in some great bold colors! I’ve paired it up with a big chunky blue necklace from Stranded Jewelry. I love the colors and the dress is nice and light, great for the warm weather that is headed our way!

The next look of the day is a bright blue beaded skirt from Sparkle Eyes that I’ve paired with a mini-dress from Gabriela Designs. Yeah, it’s not so mini-dress-y right now, but I loved how the warm natural colors matched with the sky-blue so I tucked it in to give it a bit of a waist. Having that little bit of fabric underneath helps give the … Read more!
