Fierce in the CityDenver, CO – The first Fierce in the City event will feature live music performances during a fashion show, immediately after which the public and boutique buyers will be able to purchase or order the clothing and accessories straight from the runway. Fierce in the City will be held on Sunday, November 23rd from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Space Gallery, 400 Santa Fe Drive, in Denver. It is being produced by Denver-based Salwa Owens, who will be the featured designer showing four of her collections. Fierce in the City will be emceed by Vincent Powell, one of the top 20 finalists from American Idol 2013. We had a chance to get to know more Karen Fisher about artist Karen Fisher when she spent a few days with us at the Fashion Denver Headquarters painting a mural on ourwall and we loved every minute of it. Karen’s fashion artwork is featured in the Fashion Design Center of Denver and has been shown in galleries in Denver, LA, and more! Read our exclusive interview….

How long have you been an artist?

Karen Fisher ArtI have always considered myself an artist; even during the years when I was a stay-at-home mom raising two boys and then later throughout my 15-year career as a high school English teacher. But it wasn’t until a couple of years ago when I quit teaching that I was able to dedicate myself full-time to the pursuit of creating, showing and selling my artwork.

What are your biggest inspirations?

Inspiration is for amateurs! Just kidding! No, really, I do believe that my studio practice of just showing up every day and doing the work of making art is as inspiring as going to museums and looking at art, whether it’s old or new art.

Buffalo Exchange Cross Walk-Off

Buffalo Exchange

Buffalo Exchange (51 Broadway location)  will be hosting its 2nd annual Crosswalk Walk-Off on Friday June 20th to kick off Pride on S Broadway. Kings, Queens, and fabulous people will compete for prizes as they use the traffic lights and crosswalk as a runway.

The event starts at 7pm and is roughly 45 min – 1.5 hour depending on the number of competitors. DJ, water, and popsicles provided.

 Fashion show and after party at Compound Basix with special guest DJ Garth from Greyhound and Wicked crew.  No cover charge 10PM
