Sizzlin’ 6 with Chelsea Bashford, Forever Stranger

I ran into Chelsea Bashford earlier this month and perused her pop up Forever Stranger that she had at Dateline. Every item that she carried was a true treasure that brought back memories. Chelsea and I have known each other from around town, but now we actually get to spend some together as she pops up at our Fashion Denver 13th Anniversary Bonanza!

What inspired your pop up?

Forever Stranger is about creating an environment where people can find clothing soulmates and play dress up.  It all started in my living room where I’d invite everyone over to listen to music and try on clothing.  It was fun.  It was weird. People loved it.

Since then Ive had pop up shops in a variety of space including galleries, venues, and DIY Spaces in Denver, Austin, and Los Angeles and it’s always a great time.

Sizzlin’ 6 with Serana Rose

We are so excited to have this talented artist, designer and performer at our Fashion Denver Anniversary Bonanza! Serana Rose is  such a colorful and unique individual and to see her personality shine in the designs she makes will surely add a splash of color to our event!

What was your first memory of fashion inspiration that you can remember?

My infatuation with unique fashion began during childhood.  I grew up on a angora goat farm where my mother taught me to sew, spin, weave, and card fibers.   These skills were useful in toy making as a kid, but when I got older I found a way to apply these skills to what I really love…making awesome clothes and accessories!

When I was about 10, I started obsessing over models flaunting gorgeous costumes in high fashion magazines.   I went to my first fashion show as a preteen.  Seeing these extraordinary handmade costumes and confident women sparkling on the runway changed the way I looked at wearing clothes. I saw this as a great form of self-expression and discovered that through fashion I can transform myself into all sorts of magic.

My mother supported this new found love.  She and I Read more!

Sizzlin’Summer questions with Brian “Scoop” Nemeth

It was about late 2011 when Brian “Scoop” Nemeth came into Fashion Denver’s boutique sharing his idea and drawings for his line of swimsuits that he wanted to create.  I’ve seen him work relentlessly on his dream and it has been amazing to see it come to fruition. We are honored to feature Scoop at our fashion bonanza on June 16th!

Besides being an innovative designer, Brian has raised awareness about people living with autism and aspergers and he does it through taking action in his passions.

“Even though I have asperger’s/autism, it has not limited my ability to be a productive citizen and contributing member of society,” says Brian.

He’s got a GoFundMe campaign running to raise money to continue his dream in fashion. Check it out here…

Dress code back in high school, which inspired me to think of a way to balance between (a) following the dress code and making females comfortable and (b) enjoy what I love seeing on a woman

We are thrilled to have Kristin Radakovits and her beautiful leather designs at our 13th Anniversary fashion bonanza! I met Kristin at Rumpus in the Park at City Park where she had a booth set up with her amazing designs. She was one of the most colorful people at this already colorful event! She has been recovering from a pretty major ankle surgery and is finally ready to get back to to life at full speed! We are honored to have Kristin in our market!

What was your first memory of fashion inspiration that you can remember?

When I was a little kid I used to watch the show Punky Brewster about the young girl who was abandoned by her parents and later adopted.  She was unconventional and definitely her own person when it came to style.  She wore bright primary colors, her hair in pigtails and often wore different colored socks with only one leg rolled up tied with funky bandanas and wore lots of layers of clothes.  I remember loving how she came up with her own original style at the early age of 8, the same age I was, and I too wanted to Read more!
