Exciting things happening here at Fashion Denver! We’ve been meeting with a number fabulous local designers!

AdrianaLast week we met with Adriana Godoy.  Adriana is a swimwear and jewelry designer from Brazil, now living here in Colorado.  She came into the studio to give us a sneak peek at her latest jewelry line.  The line includes three bracelet styles, and three ring styles available in four different metal finishes.  Resembling teardrops, they have a fun fit and are versatile enough to fit any style. Elegant enough to easily dress up an outfit for a black tie event, yet the simple design means they can be worn on a daily basis.  All of the jewelry is locally made here in Colorado out of quality metals.  Watch Fashion Denver for news on Adriana Godoy’s launch this fall!!

This month we also had a fun visit with Brittney Scott of Brittney Scott Designs.  Brittney is a shoe designer with a love for sparkle.  She creates dazzling custom kicks blinged out with Swarovski Crystals.  Her start into the business began when she couldn’t find any high heels to pair with her wedding dress, that captured her personality.  Instead of settling for something … Read more!

Denver RAW Showcases Local Talent

RAW: Natural born artists, is an organization that helps local artists get the resources and exposure they need to be successful. The evening of June 28th, RAW Denver held a showcase for their local talent. Taking place at City Hall Event Center on Broadway, we got to experience many of the different kinds of talent that RAW represents.

Upon entering the venue we stepped into a room full of dividers holding up each individual artists’ work. Each of the artists had something unique to offer. One guy [Axel Geittmann] had his original paintings for sale, as well as prints for a lower price, and was also offering his doodles drawn throughout the evening. Other artists displayed photography, painted masks, painted panes of glass, handmade jewelry and other creative media forms. Local bands Joe Olney, Dead End Drivers, and The Lindsey Saunders Band played very catchy and fun sets. On the main stage, a fire dancer named John Autobahn opened up the accessory fashion show with an exciting and upbeat fire performance. The accessory show featured the work of Kody Harlin of Lucid Weaves. About an hour later, a second fashion show promoted the beautiful works of local fashion designers, CB-Crochet, … Read more!

Colorado Couture Designer Creates Costumes for Jessica Alba

Maggie Burns is the perfect example of someone who has chased after her dreams and is well on her way to a prosperous future.

Growing up on a farm with a house full of siblings, Maggie’s greatest inspiration, her mother, taught her to sew at a young age.  Four years ago, Maggie transformed her inner seamstress into a successful designer.  She now spends her days designing, making wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses for her company Marie-Margot Couture.

Maggie Burns

One year ago, Maggie put herself into the film industry by submitting herself and her talent for sewing into a film association website.  This summer she was contacted to make costumes for Jessica Alba in her new film “Dear Eleanor” also starring Luke Wilson and Josh Lucas.  The film was being shot at the Jester Theatre in Boulder, CO and at the Paramount Theatre here in Denver.  The movie is set in the 60’s, just before the Hippie movement.
The entire process took about a month to complete.  Maggie saw it as an incredible opportunity to learn and expand her expertise.  Getting to go on set and watch some of the filming opened up an understanding and admiration for the film industry.  Sewing … Read more!

One of the obstacles that many Colorado designers face, is manufacturing. When we heard about this opportunity for local designers to actually get their designs manufactured, we wanted to reach out to as many designers as we can to get feedback on this service that will be launching soon.

Attention Fashion Designers:

Designer OpportunityGetting cut-and-sew apparel manufactured, sold, and fulfilled typically requires huge investments of both time and money. Jed Seigle and Char Genevier are starting a company that makes that process much easier, and are looking for designers to help them test the new service before they release it into the wild.

Using their service, you’ll be able to create unique clothing lines based on a large selection of body styles, fabrics, and additional color, trim, and embellishment options. Jed and Char are looking to bridge the gap between the traditional limited off-the-shelf domestic options and sky-is-the-limit-but-man-is-it-complicated overseas cut-and-sew by providing a wide range of thoughtful starting points, layering on a great deal of additional tweaks, and then leveraging their many years of production experience, relationships, and infrastructure on your behalf.… Read more!
