Children’s Miracle Fashion Show 2018

June 4, 2018 – There is only one thing better than fashion shows and it’s fashion shows that benefit a good cause. The Children’s Miracle Fashion Show on May 31st did exactly that. 100% of the proceeds made from ticket sales and auction items went straight to the Children’s Miracle Network and Children Hospital Colorado. Ambassadors Sam, Kaymen, and Anela shared touching stories about their time at Children’s and led the show with charisma and comedy. With a venue like the Chateaux at Fox Meadows and plenty of local, up-and-coming designers, it was bound to be a wonderful evening filled with community, happiness, and fashion.

Yellow was everything with this outfit. Vintage Frame of Mind had me head over heels for this look. This lengthy yellow tank top jumpsuit was finished with a black plaid pattern. The loose fit was complimentary but still allowed for the shape of the model to come through. The black corset belt helped cinch and define the waist and accessorized the outfit by adding more detail. The high waist elongated the legs and gave the outfit an effortless off-duty model look. I am always transfixed by the … Read more!

Common Threads 9th Annual Recycled Runway

April 16, 2018 – When we think of fashion, sustainability isn’t usually the first thing that comes to mind. Common Threads presented the Recycled Runway Show on April 10th which aimed to shift that notion. The plot is genius: young designers from grades 6 to 12 make and compete their original, unique garments from completely recycled materials. Held at the Boulder Theater, this event was sure to be a hit. I was astounded at the talent, drive, and individuality these young innovators held. Not to mention that proceeds from the night went towards Blue Sky Bridge – a prevention and intervention association in the fight against child abuse.  Here are my top 5 looks from the evening:

This first look was incredibly intricate and the designer must’ve been meticulous when crafting this. Bryn Leith-Matison, only in 6th grade, utilized a number of distinct materials to construct her outfit. By incorporating wine wraps, tennis balls, fruit roll-up strings, and mesh netting, this young lady really challenged herself to create something that was tough yet inspiring. Tennis balls, not only difficult to work with but bold in color selection, were the center piece of this look. She hand-sewed each individual ball … Read more!

Denver’s Unique Week of Fashion

April 8, 2018 – Unique is definitely the perfect word to describe this action packed week of fashion shows. Put on April 2nd-6th, Denver’s Unique Week of Fashion was not one to miss. Produced by At Your Service Event Planning and with proceeds going to fund mental health awareness, the multiplicity of this production is quite incredible. The show’s message is all about inclusivity. All gender preferences, ages, sizes, races, and even political positions (LOL) are welcome. The warm and embracing atmosphere sure attracts a lot of different creatives from around the state. From designers to hair and makeup artists to models and photographers, DUWF showcases each individual’s talents to form a cohesive and, yes, unique show.

Monday:

Luxe303 created an upbeat vibe to go with their entertaining show. Luxe ALWAYS brings the heat to the runway. Easily one of my favorite boutiques, Luxe brings together the flavor of Miami to meet with Denver’s urban, casual look. This beautiful silk blazer was tailored to perfection as it graced the model to give a professional and suave look. The use of vibrant and bold colors was done elegantly and allowed the blazer stand out while still maintaining its polished effect. … Read more!

Local Designers: DFW

March 29, 2018 – The opening night of Denver Fashion Week was completely unconventional, pushing the limits of fashion and social standards as we know them. 303 Magazine put on yet another fascinating evening of fashion. Held at Wings Over the Rockies, this show featuring all local designers and nontraditional models sure didn’t disappoint. Fashion is all about making a statement and crossing boarders and that’s exactly what the designers on Thursday, March 22nd, did.

Topping Designs started the show out with an all inclusive gender line. These models were confident and they were given a grand platform to show it. Featuring almost all red and black outfits, the dark mystique of these designs held a lot of weight. I also loved the more contemporary pieces that were showcased – trousers, blouses, and midi dresses. I admired Topping Designs’ way of making everyone apart of their line.

Tyne Hall brought out models of all heights to rock their trendy designs. I was absolutely living for this black asymmetrical pleather lined skirt and cropped top combo. I want to first say that this model looked beyond stunning in this outfit. The fitted band of the skirt cinched the waist in … Read more!

National Designers: DFW 2018

March 26, 2018 – Fashion and excitement filled the room as airplanes surrounded the exterior of the hanger. 303 Magazine hosted the first ever Denver Fashion WEEK March 18-25th. Taking place at Wings Over the Rockies, the venue was rejuvenating and the fashion was better than ever. This monumental moment in Denver fashion only proves the progression and growth of interest in the fashion industry. Saturday, March 24th, included a few local stores and designers as well as renowned national designers from New York. These are the looks I was LIVING for!

Velvet Wolf (Denver) started off the show with simple, casual looks that could kill. I am a major fan of leather pants/leggings because of their ability to elevate an outfit with ease. You could never go wrong with a graphic tee, especially a black one. I thought the casual vibe of the opener really set the tone for the rest of the designs.

This nontraditional black trench coat had me rethinking the way I buy and wear my trenches. Kouture, a locally based designer consignment store, brought out a bangin’ piece to start out their segment. Styled with the collar up, I couldn’t get enough of this … Read more!
