Fierce in the CityDenver, CO – The first Fierce in the City event will feature live music performances during a fashion show, immediately after which the public and boutique buyers will be able to purchase or order the clothing and accessories straight from the runway. Fierce in the City will be held on Sunday, November 23rd from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Space Gallery, 400 Santa Fe Drive, in Denver. It is being produced by Denver-based Salwa Owens, who will be the featured designer showing four of her collections. Fierce in the City will be emceed by Vincent Powell, one of the top 20 finalists from American Idol 2013. Other musical performers include the female pop rock duo Steady Rush, international opera vocalist Marlen Nahhas, and pop artist Dorian Phaero.

Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The fashion presentations accompanied by live music will start at 7:30 p.m. After the fashion show, guests will enjoy more music and be able to shop from the runway collections, as well as from a few select other vendors.

Salwa Owens recently showed collections at Santa Fe and San Diego fashion weeks, as well as the Americas Mart in Atlanta. She has a ready-to-wear line mass produced in Los Angeles, a second ready-to-wear line made in Colorado, an evening gown line 100% handmade in India, and an online boutique that carries clothing, jewelry, belts, hats and sweaters. Her items can be purchased at select boutiques in Denver, as well as through her website, www.SalwaOwens.com.

During the first fashion runway presentation, Vincent Powell will sing a medley of some of the most popular songs he performed on American Idol. Powell is a gospel and jazz singer who grew up in Austin, Texas. He has sung back-up for many artists including Whitney Houston. He is a praise leader and teacher, the CEO of an annual fashion event in Houston called “Dress Houston,” and has released a CD called, “A Classic Christmas.”

With Steady Rush, audiences get a two-for-one sound. Combine Kylie Hartman’s blues rock flare with Molly Fiorentino’s dance-pop sounds, and listeners are guaranteed a memorable show.

Marlen Nahhas is excited to make her Denver, Colorado debut. She has been seen on the stages from Texas to Austria, performing in all vocal styles. She is a soprano and has been featured in roles ranging from Violette in La Traviata and Antonia in Les Contes Des Hoffman, to Mrs. Lovette in Sweeney Todd and Ado Annie in Oklahoma. This past year, she performed in the world premiere of the opera The Tale of Lady Thi Kin as the role of VoMo. One of her upcoming endeavors includes playing Bloody Mary in South Pacific at Indiana University where she will receive her Masters in Opera Performance in May. She won the Mirabell-Schloss Competition in Austria, and was the recipient of the Tommy Tune Award for Best Leading Actress in Houston, TX for the title role in Annie Get Your Gun.

Dorian Phaero is a multi-discipline artist known for his diverse creative mediums. His work critically evaluates a wide spectrum of issues, ranging from human rights to pop culture. In late 2009, he established his own private record label, MFA, and recorded a pop album entitled, ARTificialSEXDRUNK, which is available on iTunes. His second album, Dollhouse, is slated for release later this year.

Tickets are $25 for general admission, $35 for second row and $50 for front row. All tickets include appetizers and open bar (tips appreciated).
