False Ego: Boutique on Walnut
By Maya Fuentes
According to Worldwildlife.org, making one cotton shirt can require around 2,700 liters of water. This takes a huge toll on the environment especially when these shirts are only worn for a year or so before being tossed into the trash.
A local brand in RINO hopes to change that by offsetting their carbon footprint and donating towards green causes. Falso Ego sustainably sources its materials by using recycled cotton, recycled bottles, water-based inks, and organic textiles. Additionally, if a customer has a False Ego product they no longer wear anymore, False Ego will recycle it towards new garments.
While they have a large focus on the environment, False Ego also ensures their products are ethically made and their workers are treated fairly. They only work with manufacturers who provide their employees with healthcare, liveable wages, and even psychological care.
The values False Ego carries aren’t the only reason to stop by and shop. Upon entering False Ego, guests are greeted with a simplistic layout and tons of greenery. Racks are filled with shirts and hoodies with minimalistic yet colorful designs. They also sell shorts, sweatpants, backpacks, and other pieces in addition to art from various local artists.
