Fashion Denver’s fashion camps are designed to unleash the creativity for kids interested in the fashion world. With special guests from the Colorado fashion community to hands on activities in designing accessories and an outfit, our campers end the day with a walk down the runway in their design that they created.
Fashion camp is designed for fashionistas between the ages of 4-11! We have our groups divided equally so even if you are super young or a tween, you’ll be working at the level that you should be.
Our August edition of fashion camp is going to be something like we’ve never done!! There are 2 parts of unique fun to this camp.
We are using 100% recycled materials (bubble wrap, card board, cans, scraps of papers and ribbons, old office supplies and so much more) to construct an outfit! Using these recycled materials, our camper’s imaginations will soar. We’ll also hear from Jasmin with Eco -Cycle who will be leading our campers on a journey in recycling!
This won’t just be any old outfit but an outfit based around each camper’s FAVORITE CHARACTER! Is it a Disney Princess? A Shero in a movie? A singer or actress? Or an invented character? Whoever the character, our campers will create what they would wear with materials that are available.
We are bringing in an actress / singer /performer who will coach our campers on how to make their character come to life on the red carpet, bringing their outfit to life! Also, Deb Henriksen, designer behind fashion sustainable company Equillibrium will be talking about the importance of recycling and leading our campers on a fun accessory designing activity!
THE SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS
9:00-9:15am: Get checked in and settled in
9:15-9:45: Jasmin with Eco-Cycle will lead and educate campers on recycling.
9:45-10:30: Deb Henriksen speaks about recycling and leads a design activity.
10:30am – noon: Brainstorm of characters, pulling together materials to create their outfit, and fashion sketching the outfit. Designing the outfit out of recycled materials with our design volunteers.
noon-12:30 Lunch
12:30-1:30: Complete design.
1:30-2:15: Character development / runway coaching with our actors and professional models.
2:15-3:15: Hair and makeup will be done from one of our local Denver salons.
3:15-3:45: Fashion show Preparation
3:45-4:00: SHOWTIME!
