Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution
Thursday, January 31st at 7pm
Sie Film Center
2510 East Colfax Ave.
Denver, CO 80206

Fashion Denver is beyond excited to present this fashion documentary! Set in 1973 in Versailles, France(ooh-la-la!), the film shows the stunning designs of Givenchy, Dior, Ungaro, Yves Saint Laurent, and Pierre Cardin (Vive la France!), as well as Halston, Oscar de la Renta, Anne Klein, Stephen Burrows, and Bill Blass (USA! USA!). And when a group of African American models board the plane to walk the runway in France, they make more than a fashion statement. They make a statement about the changing times, and end up putting African Models (and American fashion) on the map.
As if that didn’t sound exciting enough, the post-film reception and fashion show is sure to be marvelous! Fashion Denver’s own Brandi Shigley and her band B.Sue will be serenading your earholes, and the talented designers Gabriela Martinez and Sahar Pazirandeh are going to be showing off some beautiful designs. So come for the fashion and stay for the…fashion!!!
Wait, wait! There’s more. Director Deborah Riley Draper and supermodel Pat Cleveland (who is featured in the film) will be at this event for a post-film discussion. We know, we know: Super exciting!

This clever concept promises to be fun and fruitful: You get to watch an amazing fashion show, and you get to leave with 10 new (to you) clothing items!
The fashion show features designs by the talented students in Goodwill’s youth programs, along with some very cool (and very eco-friendly) recycled designs by Bailey Rose and Kotomi Yoshida. Did we mention that the show will be hosted by Project Runway All Stars winner, Mondo Guerra?!
As for the clothing swap, here’s what you do: Bring at least 10 items of clothing that you are willing to part with, and leave with 10 awesome new finds! And if you’re the proactive type, you can even register and drop-off your items in advance at Goodwill’s Deja Blue Boutique, here you can enter to win early access to the swap! The early bird gets the fabulous closet, right?

Sheeeee’s baaaaack!! For the first time in over a decade, Fashion Denver’s own Brandi Shigley will be showing her B.Shigley handbags on the runway! (Okay, I’ll admit-I’m just so proud of her and had to take a second to brag!) Also featured at the runway show will be the lovely (and local) designs of Mona Lucero, Equilibrium, D’Lola Couture, Goldyn and many others.
And what event is complete without live performance art and delicious food and cocktails? Just try to resist going to this event, I dare you! (But not really. It’s going to be awesome.)
