A fashion show in an art gallery, what better place to promote the future of fashion while raising funds for kids to go to Camp ArtReach. On June 8th, First Class Fashionista presented a fantastic fashion show fundraiser at the Denver Art Society.
The event proceeds benefit The Denver Art Society and it’s local artists, as well as Camp ArtReach; A camp for at-risk kids to get exposure to the arts.
Outside the venue was parked The Denver Fashion Truck. A traveling boutique including locally designed clothing, accessories, and an assortment of cute trinkets to liven up any room of your abode.
Inside The Denver Art Society, one could bid on a silent auction of various works of art, visit one of the vendors selling clothing, shoes and jewelry. There was also a bar from Twist 6 and food made by Good Karma Coffee.
The highlight of the evening was the fashion show. Designers included Maggie Burns of Marie-Margot Bridal Couture, Juan Jimenez of Barrera International, Gabriela Martinez of Gabriela Designs, Lisa Helm of Lisa Wear Clothing, Rachel Marie Hurst of Fashions by Rae Marie, and Francis D Roces of Kimono Dragons.
The show opened with three songs sung by Cicely O’kain. Cicely is a Colorado native R&B artist. Shortly after, the first three designers were premiered. Francis, Juan, and Maggie each had a unique theme to their show and got the crowd excited. There was then a short intermission, and continued with the beautiful lines of Lisa, Gabriela, and Rachel. The finale included the student and graduate designs of the talented students from the Art Institute of Colorado.
In my opinion, Denver Paint the Runway was a marvelous success. I was so excited to be at an event full of such talent and all done for a good cause.
