MYTHS & LEGENDS
The 5th Annual Green Is the New Black Fashion Extravaganza
March 8 & 9 at 8pm, Doors and Reception at 7pm
Carbondale Recreation Center

We are proud to sponsor this wonderful event in Carbondale! ROAD TRIP!

The Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities presents the 5th Annual Green Is the New Black Fashion Extravaganza on March 8th and 9th. This year we unravel ancient myths and legends, some familiar and some mysterious, to draw out age-old themes of earth and humanity that continue to be relevant in our current social climate. Fashion and environment dominate the journey. High fashion, as well as wearable art, graces the runway with multi-media backgrounds, music and theatrics. Over 100 creatives from throughout the valley and beyond come together to create a show that dazzles and dares!

Myths and Legends is taking a step up technically, as well. Thanks to True Nature Healing Arts and Alchemy, CCAH is exploring the use of “projection mapping”. This new technology allows images to move and wrap around the set bringing these images to life. Many cultures are explored throughout the show with appearances from the Hopi Spider Woman, Hathor, the Egyptian goddess of the skies and Neptune, representing water. The Co-motion Modern Dance Troupe brings grace and action to the event as the mischievous wood nymphs and live music will be interspersed throughout.

A Designer Trunk Sale follows the performance each night. Immediately following the show racks of sustainable items will be rolled out, as well as a silent auction. Beautiful, one of kind items like the cashmere designs of Deborah Lindquist to the many creative endeavors of the Carbondale Sew-Op will be available for purchase. This is an opportunity to support designers working consciously to create a healthier environment locally and globally.

Each evening a Dessert Reception sponsored by Whole Foods Market, Pan and Fork Catering and Aspen Candy Company kick the evening off starting at 7 pm. A martini bar and beer and wine are available throughout the evening.  Tickets are available on line at carbondalearts.com, CCAH and The Carbondale Rec Center. Funds from this show support CCAH arts programming year round. CCAH is a 501c3 nonprofit building community through art. CCAH produces the Carbondale Mountain Fair, Carbondale Summer of Music, on top of classes for youth and adults, school education programs and a yearly humanities series.
