On Sept. 24, when Anythink Wright Farms is transformed into Sparkopolis, Fashion Denver will be there to add a new creative flair to the event.

Brandi Shigley, owner and founder of Fashion Denver, will emcee for the evening. Designers Tricia Hoke and Francis Roces, who represent the amazing design talent here in Colorado, join her for a night of creative fun. Hoke, named a 2011 Westword Mastermind, will draw whimsical fashion sketches of what people are wearing that evening. Roces, a designer regularly featured at the Fashion Denver boutique, will create a piece of fashion/art in which guests at the event will contribute by selecting swatches of fabric and other accouterments to add to the piece.

These interactive design experiences perfectly complement the food, music, art and fun that is Sparkopolis.

Sneak peak at new September designers

I’ve met with 3 designers that will be joining Fashion Denver in September and upon those meetings, bought up some new favorite accessories. Here is a sneak peak from designers  Leigh Benner, designer of Barberry & Lace, Michelle Marie Designs, and Jennifer Lane Designs.

From the bottom up:

Earrings: I fell in love with the color and simplicity of these Michelle Marie Designs earrings and have been wearing them ever since I got them. They add just the perfect pop of color.

Necklace: As some of you may know, I could be on my roller-skates 24 /7 and this Barberry & Lace necklace is just the perfect little charm to represent my passion for rolling.

Headband / necklace: There are days that I love the earthy feel of nature and this headband is the perfect way to come stay rooted to our earth in a peaceful way. If you don’t want to wrap it around your head, you can wear it as a necklace. I love pieces with options!

We are really looking forward to the new designers joining us! Come and meet them at our First Friday event on September 2nd from 6pm-9pm!… Read more!

SYNOPSIS

Every family has one: the sibling who is always just a little bit behind the curve when it comes to getting his life together.  For sisters Liz (Emily Mortimer), Miranda (Elizabeth Banks) and Natalie (Zooey Deschanel), that person is their perennially upbeat brother Ned (Paul Rudd), an erstwhile organic farmer whose willingness to rely on the honesty of mankind is a less-than-optimum strategy for a tidy, trouble-free existence.  Ned may be utterly lacking in common sense, but he is their brother and so, after his girlfriend dumps him and boots him off the farm, his sisters once again come to his rescue.  As Liz, Miranda and … Read more!

A real life version of UP comes into Fashion Denver and melts our hearts…

This little old man who is volunteering across the street at PBS strolled into Fashion Denver and within the hour that he was here, he shared the story of his wife who passed away after 54 years of marriage. I went to go talk to him when he was looking at our designer Simply Delicious’s cupcake and pie necklaces.

“It’s been 377 Sundays since my wife passed away and every year I buy her a birthday present. She would like this. She loved to bake. I would buy her the donut, the pie, and the cupcake,”  he said as he looked over each necklace very carefully.

“I already bought her gift for next year. It’s a golden carriage with an egg inside. It’s beautiful.”

He told me how now he bakes. He loves to bake. He made a pie with amaretto in it and just made stuffed peppers. He told me about how he met his wife at a job interview and saw that she didn’t have a ring on so he asked her out on a date. They went on their first date during the holidays and by the following Thanksgiving, they were married.  He told me about their … Read more!
