Up Close and Purse-onal with Best of DFW

Getting up close and purse-onal with the best of Denver Fashion Week exhibit was a thrilling experience. I spent the evening discussing style with some of Denver’s most stylish guests. I was in awe from the moment I arrived, as our night kicked off with a private tour of the gallery. Listening to the stories and inspiration behind the photos and collections on display, I was most impressed with the thoughtfulness of the interactive elements. There were sample textiles to touch and fabric arranged artfully to create the perfect backdrop for a photo-opp. Feeling the materials the designers worked with highlighted the hard work and creativity that went into making these pieces so spectacular.

I also enjoyed the wide variety of styles showcased in the gallery. There was everything from delicate flowery dresses to giant metal, spikey neck pieces. The exhibit truly encompassed all the different tastes that make Denver such an interesting fashion hub.

Another impressive aspect of the event were the people in attendance. Not only were there a substantial amount of people that came, but the guests were of all ages. I was

Interview with Photographer Kristin Christian from Colorado Lifestyle Photography

I first met photographer Kristin Christian, photographer behind Colorado Life Style Photography, last spring when our line of dress shirts, Bradley Allen, was featured on the runway for the Children’s Miracle fashion show.

I started following her on social media and absolutely LOVED the energy of her photos, leading to working with her on our recent Valentine’s photoshoot. She was able to take a really sexy situation making it classy, lovable, and full of emotion. We had such a blast!!

We wanted to know what makes this photographer tick! Let’s get to know this amazing Colorado Photographer, shall we?

What is your favorite subject to photograph?

My kids, Isabella and Wyatt, come first.  They are my inspiration and the reason I fell in love with photography.  I love photographing families and creating an experience that allows them to relax and be natural in front of the camera.
How did you develop an interest in photography?
I dreamed up Colorado Lifestyle Photography the year my daughter was born with the intention of documenting our family and our love for Colorado.  My husband and I are originally from Michigan, and we moved here 12 years ago to create a new

Our intern Lauren’s first assignment

My first photoshoot experience
By Lauren Wells

Observing beautifully buff men model dress shirts is not a bad way to spend an afternoon. I had the pleasure of helping out at the Fashion Denver / Bradley Allen Valentine’s Day photo shoot this week. It was my first behind-the-scenes shoot experience and I was very excited. Pro tip: if you ever get lost looking for a photo shoot location, follow the pretty people. I had been searching for the building for a few unsuccessful minutes when a stunning couple emerged from their car, greeting me with a magnificent combination of muscles, luscious locks, and pearly whites.

Following them inside, I was impressed by the obvious amount of effort that went into planning the shoot. The makeup and apparel had to be pristine, the props laid out just so, and the equipment fine-tuned. Models not only had to perfect a variety poses but make them look natural and effortless as well. The attention to detail that went into creating entrancing, realistic scenes for these shirts was remarkable.

I can’t imagine the pressure on the models to look realistically intimate (sometimes with strangers) in front of a bunch of people staring at you … Read more!

TRASH THE RUNWAY™- REYCLED COUTURE GEARS UP FOR ITS 10th YEAR

TRASH THE RUNWAY™- REYCLED COUTURE GEARS UP FOR ITS 10th YEAR

Trash the Runway™(formerly Recycled Runway), will be held in March 2019 at The Boulder Theater. Now in its 10th year, this groundbreaking  Boulder design competition promises to deliver the haute-est recycled couture yet.

Every Spring, for the past nine years, young designers from around the Metro Area work tirelessly for months to create stunning couture. Their creations are showcased in a final fashion show and competition to an historically sold-out crowd at The Boulder Theater. There is always a range of couture from sweeping evening gowns to whimsical leisure attire. The presentation is stunning, the younger designers who attend local middle and high schools are poised perfection, and the designs themselves are made entirely of recycled and found materials. Evenings gowns have been made from old trampoline mats and pantsuits from discarded exercise bands. One winning dress from last year’s competition was painstakingly made from thousands of old Starburst candy wrappers.

It’s an evening not to be missed and is notable for the creativity, confidence, and eco-consciousness it inspires.

The Creative Lab at Common Threads in Boulder, which organizes and runs this competition, held the first recycled … Read more!

Beautycounter is BEEYOUTIFUL

Oh beauty products!! So much to chose from! I recently learned about Beautycounter, which I chalked up to another beauty product but then I began to understand more! Once I tried these products, understood their purpose and vision and overall care for MY human body, I began to transform my bigger picture for my skincare regimen.  It’s so easy to swing by the drug store to pick up cosmetics, face wash, and all of our other body care products but how often do we really read the ingredients and understand what’s behind the product?

BEAUTY PRODUCTS MISSION: To get safer products into the hands of everyone.

I have a lot to learn but my mind has been transformed and in the new year, I definitely want to get switched over to products that are good for me 🙂

Back in 2011, I had our Fashion Denver brick and mortar boutique and had the honor and pleasure to work with Tina Berge Clang as she interned for us, helping us to build our brand, build our boutique culture, and assist with sales and events. At the time, Tina was studying fashion at CSU and in her time as an intern, she … Read more!
