An interview with Glamour Bar Denver owner Lyndsay Wilson

Brandi Shigley emcees Westword's ArtopiaA couple months ago, I emceed Westword’s  Artopia fashion show White Out and to be honest, I really don’t know how to do my own makeup. I asked my friend Heather, editor of the Denver Style Magazine if she could recommend anybody that could help a sister out and without any hesitation she told me all about the amazing Lyndsay Wilson, owner of Glamour Bar. I immediately called them to get an appointment to get beautified for the fashion show.

My experience was absolutely amazing! When I walked in, I was in love with the vibe of the place. The front of the space had some clothing and accessories to peruse through and do a little shopping. And right away, you are offered a delicious beverage with Stella on tap.

I had such a fun time going from station to station getting my nails, hair, and them makeup done. The team was absolutely fabulous and made me feel like a princess! Thank you Glamour Bar!!!

I knew right away that I wanted to learn more about Lyndsay and hear the background behind this business! Read our interview with Lyndsay Wilson!  There is a special discount at the bottom for … Read more!

Green is the New Black Fashion Extravaganza 2016

On Friday March 12th I was fortunate enough to attend the Green is the New Black Fashion extravaganza and transformation fashion show at the Carbondale Rec Center in the Roaring Fork Valley. For the 8th year in a row, the Carbondale Arts and Humanities Council produces this event as a fundraiser for the Roaring Fork school district. Each year, the show is done with a different theme to send a powerful and motivational message to the audience. This year, the theme of the show was transformation.

I was elated to see that the small, delightful, and quant little town of Carbondale could give rise to such a fabulous production. The show featured 20 designers based in many different locations. From Carbondale itself, to Los Angeles to even Milan, Italy; the diversity of designers was vast. To separate the designers up a bit, this show did something I’ve never seen before. It featured dancing and mime segments before, during, and after the
models strutted down the runway. The performances all emphasized the transformation message/theme to the audience with powerful scenes from a butterfly growing its wings, to a mime performance about a young girl becoming a woman. At first I thought … Read more!

Fashion Denver Fashion Camp

Our next camp takes place on Saturday, May 28th!

On March 19th, we held our fashion camp for fashionistas between the ages of 5-15 and had an action packed day of fun!

Our campers learned about inner beauty and being kind with Denver Style Magazine editor Heather Okimoto. They learned how to introduce themselves and compliment each other in a way that led to new friendships. It was so much fun to see this transpire!

Next Jeremy Willard and I (Brandi Shigley) shared our upcycle designs and our campers went to work, sketching and making their own designs. A beautiful mess of creativity filled up our headquarters at Green Spaces.

Model, pop singer, stylist, and producer Dorian Phaero taught our campers how to walk the runway being confident and fierce.

After they learned the walk, it was off to hair and makeup!

After hair and makeup were done, it was time to walk the runway!

We had such a wonderful time! Thank you to all of you who participated in the event and for giving your young fashionista an opportunity to dive into the fashion world!
