Project Beauty 2013

I have always loved Neiman Marcus and believe their store is the epitome of luxury and class.  They carry some of the most exclusive and top name brands in the beauty industry, making it a perfect candidate to host the premier beauty event of the season.

On Saturday, September 14th Neiman Marcus hosted Project Beauty 2013, an event that featured elegant new products and the latest in revolutionary hi-tech tools.  The products were displayed in an intimate and exciting runway setting, allowing for close up views of the beauty products, as well as their application on the models. Attendees were offered the chance to enter a raffle where they had the opportunity to win a gift package each time a brand presented and walked the catwalk.

Brandi, founder of Fashion Denver, and I arrived at the morning runway presentation to a friendly and beautiful crowd of individual’s eager to learn more about how they could enhance their beauty routine.  We found our seats, were handed a mimosa, and gushed over how excited we were to get professional opinions and tips on the various products.

Cle de Peau Presentation

Oh, and of course to meet the world-renowned Napoleon Perdis!

Neiman Marcus hosted a representative speaker and model from each brand, which was a wonderful way of convincing me that I had a growing need to get every product available.  The raffle drawing preceded each brand presentation and offered a gift package to a lucky attendee.  And when I say lucky attendee, I mean LUCKY attendee.  These packages were a real steal.  Each giveaway included several of the brands best products that the guests just learned about.

     Product Line Presentation

6        Talk about an impressive lineup.  As if that was not beyond enough to make for a successful and well-spent Saturday, Napoleon Perdis, founder and CEO of Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics, concluded the event with a presentation of his latest product launches.

Napoleon Perdis during his product line presentation.

Napoleon is a legendary, Australian born, Hollywood based, make-up artist whose main focus is what “women really want.”  A little star struck, I listened keenly and took mental notes on how I could utilize his tips and techniques derived from 20 years as a make-up artist.  He has been awarded an “ELLE Genius Award” for innovation from ELLE Magazine and has been noticed and honored by Fashion Group International for his talent and services to the beauty and fashion industry.  He has directed the looks for over 100 shows during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia and New York Fashion Week and has applied makeup to some of the most famous faces today, such as Miranda Kerr and Samantha Harris.  During his presentation he demonstrated how to use his latest launches to enhance any make-up look, from full-coverage to nearly nude.

In the words of Napoleon,

“When I do a makeover I’m not only concerned with how a woman wants           to look, I want to know how she wants to feel that day.”

Napoleon’s Glamorous Assistant

I took this to heart.  Why not alter your make-up routine to your mood?

Feeling like a bold model? Amp up your look with Napoleon’s Couture Contour product.  Use the ‘Highlight’ shade by sweeping the highlighter on top of your cheekbones, middle of the forehead, bridge of the nose, brow bone and chin.  Then, slim and sculpt the face with the ‘Contour’ shade by brushing under the cheekbones and along the jaw line. Fake a fuller pout by applying just under thelower lip, add a bold lip color (I recommend Napoleon’s matte lipstick in shade ‘Lara’), and you’re ready for the catwalk.

Feeling like a natural beauty?  Add an instant glow with Napoleon’s Auto Pilot Radiance-Boosting Primer.  This primer releases a natural glow that lifts and flatters the face.  Apply in a tapping motion to the brow bone, peak of the cheeks, bridge of the nose, and inner corners of the eye.  Pair this with Napoleon’s Mighty Concealer Pen, a sweep of his Mesmer-Eyes Mascara and people will envy how you were perceivably “born with it.”

Subsequent to Napoleon’s mesmerizing presentation, each of the brand representative’s urged guests to follow them to the makeup counters to see how they too could utilize the glamorous products.  Makeup applications were also done by the marvel himself, Napoleon Perdis.

It was a morning filled with glamour and beauty that left me daydreaming of becoming a makeup artist. However, with all the tips and techniques I learned from the various brands, I decided I can be a makeup artist in my own right.  With that in mind I rushed home, swept on Napoleon’s Auto Pilot Radiance-Boosting Primer, and made a wish list of the products I wanted to invest in.
