After taking some time off after the passing of my beautiful and creative Momma, I’ve finally got the spark back to do our fashion camp! My mom was such a brilliant artist and fashionista in her own right and I want to dedicate this fashion camp to her. She has tons and tons of creative materials that we’ll be using, and my hope is that every camper gets to go home with a little piece of my mother’s creative spirit, on top of their little creative genius minds!
This fashion camp we’ll be making some fall accessories (scarves and mittens) to go along with their staple t-shirt turned into a dress or something fun. And as per the usual, our campers will get to meet some of Denver’s creative community.
This edition of fashion camp features award winning bridal couture designer, Maggie Burnsalong with Chris Gyorgy who will lead a super fun activity making pom poms and headbands, and Mikael Olsonwill be showing the campers how to do an artful … Read more!

It’s hard to believe, but Fashion Denver was founded 15 years ago. You can read the history of our beginnings by clickity clicking on this link. Through the history of Fashion Denver, we’ve produced fashion markets, fashion shows, owned a retail space (2008-2012), worked with several small fashion businesses helping them to create their roots to grow. As we’ve ebbed and flowed, one thing that we’ve always focussed on is connecting and consulting. As you may or may have not noticed, this past year, Fashion Denver has been on the quiet side of things and I wanted to share why this is so.
In 2018, my beautiful Grandmother passed away. My aunt, mom and I cared for beautiful Victoria and I got to experience her life as it came to an end here on earth. One of the things that my aunt and mom both emphasised was, “Learn how to be a caregiver as you may be doing this for your mother.”
Last year, my amazingly beautiful mother Vicki Shigley, began chemo for a … Read more!
Curves of Life Brunch and Fashion Show Review
Written by Jaime Sachs
Over the past few years couture connoisseurs have watched as the fashion world has opened up to not only welcome, but celebrate, people in all of their differences. I remember being amazed as Winnie Harlow took on the notoriously non-diverse Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, skin aglow despite her Vitiligo, and Tess Holliday gracing a Cosmopolitan cover, bravely facing backlash to assert that all sizes can be beautiful. These women made history in fighting absurd beauty standards, blazing a path that, yes, true beauty can be found in all of our unique attributes.
On Sunday June 30, fashion was similarly used to empower young women afflicted with Scoliosis, or a curvature of the spine. That vital objective is why I feel blessed to have attended and helped out with the Curves of Life Fashion Show for the Curvy Girls program. For those of you who don’t know this program, Curvy Girls is an international Scoliosis support group that aims to raise awareness of Scoliosis while also providing support to sufferers in showing that they are not alone. As Curvy Girls is aimed at teenagers with Scoliosis, the Curves
Every once in a while something comes across my Instagram feed that not only inspires me and entertains me but also has me thinking how talented people are with their words, opinions, and way that they can so seamlessly put together an insta story that captivates the reader / viewer!
This is how I felt when Mackenzie Roseland’s Insta Story on The Met Ball came across my feed. Her passion for fashion clearly comes across with entertaining commentary that makes me laugh. I seriously could see Mackenzie with her own little show on fashion and culture! Be sure to follow Mackenzie on Insta. You will for sure be entertained with her beautiful images, outtake on life, and hilarious commentary!
PS! Mackenzie was one of our photographers covering the Red Ball last fall! We love her work!
Now… on with Mackenzie’s wrap up on The Met Ball!
For anyone who is involved or remotely interested in the fashion industry at large, the “First Monday in May” is practically a national holiday. The Met Ball, or more formally known as the Costume Institute Gala, is an annual fundraising event to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art‘s Costume Institute and marks the … Read more!
