Local seamstress and designer of Denver based label 50 Dresses by Tess Vigil is offering personal or small group sewing lessons in the RiNo arts district in Denver!

Tess’s notes…

Hi! I have 5 years teaching and tutoring experience, have a master’s degree in education, and have owned and operated my own fashion design label for the past 3 years. I’m always trying to meld my passion for sewing and design with my passion for teaching. I’ve taught summer camp programs to ages 6-14 at Colorado Academy in basic sewing, designing doll clothes, fashion blogging, and more. As you can see from my website, I mostly make dresses and separates, but I like doing small projects like aprons, pillows, etc with beginners.

I am open to personalizing a lesson to your needs, but here are a few styles of lessons I’ve had success with in the past:

•Kid’s sewing lesson- 1.5-2 hours, 1-2 kids age 6+. We go over basics of hand sewing, choose fabric for a small project like a doll dress or pillow, and work together to complete a project. Fun idea for a birthday party with a small group of girls!

•Do you have your own sewing machine but don’t know how to use it? Bring it to the shop and I will help you learn the basics as well as start and/or finish a project with me!

•Basic lesson- Learn some basics of sewing by hand or by machine.

I have a large studio with a variety of fabric types, an industrial sewing machine, 2 home machines, a serger, and a large cutting table to help you with your project.

My standard prices are $60/hour for up to 2 people in a class. I provide all materials unless you prefer to bring your own.  It is a personal tutoring lesson and includes fabrics, supplies, and a chance to learn differences about different machines and tools! We’ll learn basic sewing skills and machine operation as well as complete a small project so you have something to take home! I can do a one-time class, or we can set up a schedule. If you want to sign up for multiple classes over a set schedule, I’ll work with you on a discounted rate schedule so it can be affordable for you.
