Brandi Shigley, dreamer/doer and award-winning proponent of small businesses has been hard at work transforming the former Fashion Denver retail storefront into a shared creative workplace.
Harnessing her vision to build a space as unique as the people who fill it, Shigley has partnered with designer/builder, Brad Benefiel of Benefiel Design on her renovation of 1070 Bannock Street, Suite 150 (lovingly referred to as “The 150”). The modern, tailored design is focused on cultivating ideas, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
Shigley describes the new culture of The 150: “The space will feature ONLY positive businesses that can thrive from each other (no Debbie Downers). We are not there to compete. I want to have Monday morning meetings where we each go over our goals and objectives and we hold each other accountable. Maybe we’ll have mandatory 5 minute stretching sessions every hour. We’ll have a break room area (so we really can stand by the water cooler and catch up) as well as a shared community space for meetings, presentations, openings, etc.”
The space itself, formerly a retail vehicle for local designers, has been transformed into three unique pods, each one specially handcrafted to reflect the brand and personality of its inhabitant. And as always, Shigley keeps company with some of the most progressive minds in Denver.
Karl Schroeder is the founder of rocketmob media, llc., a full-service SEO, inbound marketing and brand development firm based in Denver, CO. In addition to providing custom business marketing services, Schroeder advises local, brick-and-mortar companies on how to utilize web technology, mobile platforms, and social networks to build community-based relationships and deliver value both online and off. Schroeder’s work has helped produce Denver Business Journal and Inc. 500 recognized fastest growing privately held companies in Colorado. In his free time, Schroeder enjoys rock climbing, skiing, biking, and writing about himself in the 3rd person.
Shigley’s own space, designed for B.23 Productions and Fashion Denver, boasts a treehouse. The community meeting area, where Shigley will host her well-known “Do what you love. Love what you do.” workshops, features a U-shaped sofa with a foosball coffee table as its centerpiece. In short, The 150 is a spatial concept from one of Denver’s entrepreneurial masterminds, flawlessly executed by Benefiel.
And while personality is oozing from every corner, there’s no shortage of professionalism at The 150. From web development to event planning, business consulting to marketing and PR, Shigley is creating roots for businesses to grow.
Stop by The 150 and experience this unconventional shared collaborative space during their official opening on Friday, March 23 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
