When Fashion Blooms: A Rose-Inspired Night at The Roses
Last night was such a treat at the special screening of The Roses at the SIE Film Center! 🎬✨
Fashion and film are such natural partners—both tell stories, spark imagination, and let us see life from different angles. And when it comes to The Roses, the reimagined tale of love, ambition, and unraveling facades, there was no shortage of drama, style, and laughter.

The Roses team really outdid themselves with the goody bags! 🎁 Instead of a flimsy shopping tote, we were gifted a Land’s End tote bag—sturdy, stylish, and actually useful with deep pockets, a zipper closure, and the perfect everyday size. (I’m already using mine today!) Inside was such a thoughtful mix of treats: a beautifully decorated cookie, a sparkling little candle, a jar of spicy seafood seasoning (a playful nod to Olivia’s character as a chef at We’ve Got Crabs! 🦀), and of course, a single red rose to tie it all together. 🌹 It was the kind of bag you’ll keep and actually use—practical, fashionable, and full of charm.
🌹 Inspired by Roses (the Dress!)
In true Fashion Denver style, I leaned into the theme with my own “rose dress.” With zippers all over, I could play with the fullness and function depending on my mood. What I love most? I can pop it right into the washing machine and dryer—because fashion should be fabulous and functional!

This dress, designed by Samuel Dong, is one of my gems from Rosey’s, a boutique that held a special place in Denver fashion for decades. Rosey brought unique and international treasures to our city, along with outrageous accessories that made every outfit an adventure. Though she has since retired from retail, her spirit of style lives on in the closets (and hearts) of those of us lucky enough to shop there.
🍿 Fashion + Friends + Film
The night was made even better with stylish friends, popcorn + soda combo packs, and plenty of laughter echoing through the theater. The energy was electric—exactly what a community night out should feel like!

I’m endlessly inspired by the fashionable friends I’m blessed to have in my life, and I was so grateful to share the Roses opening with them. Featured in this photo are Georgie San Miguel—a hospitality guru, fashion icon, and co-producer of Le Diner En Blanc Denver; Tennisia—a model, makeup and hair stylist, fashion coach, and unstoppable creative force in our city; little ol’ me; and Olivia Omega—a powerful speaker, leader, and author who continues to shine so brightly in our community. Being surrounded by such visionaries fills me with energy, creativity, and gratitude! 🌹✨

🎥 About The Roses
If you haven’t heard, The Roses is a reimagining of the 1989 classic The War of the Roses, based on the novel by Warren Adler.
Life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Ivy (Olivia Colman) and Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch): successful careers, a loving marriage, great kids. But beneath the façade of their supposed ideal life, a storm is brewing. As Theo’s career nosedives and Ivy’s ambitions take off, a tinderbox of competition and resentment ignites.
The cast is a powerhouse, featuring Olivia Colman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Belinda Bromilow, Sunita Mani, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, and Kate McKinnon. With a lineup like that, the performances were nothing short of brilliant!
Wrapping it Up
At its heart, the night was about more than just a movie—it was about celebrating the intersection of fashion, community, and creativity right here in Denver. From a rose-inspired dress to a film full of thorns and blooms, it was an evening that reminded me just how connected style and storytelling truly are.
🌹 Fashion.
🌹 Friends.
🌹 Film.
= A night to remember.
