The first time that I met Rachel Lang approximately 4 years ago, I was pretty much inspired from the second I met her. Her style, her sweet and genius vibe, and her creativity flowed out with every word she spoke. I immediately knew that I wanted her to inspire our kiddos at Fashion Camp! 

Rachel joined our Fashion Camp, creating a fashion activity taking t-shirts and turning them into magic. The kids fell in love with Rachel and ever since then, she’s been part of the Fashion Denver team!

Ahhhh yes….. it’s back to school time! It is an exciting time for many kids but for so many other kids, it’s not met with the same fun expectation of getting new school clothes and getting to pick out their backpack for the year. It’s often met with the stress of not being able to afford new clothes,  not fitting in, and not having what “all the other kids have.”

According to an article written in Patch.com, “More than 40 million Americans live below the poverty line, and of those facing such financial hardship, children are disproportionately affected. Nearly 12.6 million children under age 18 live in households with poverty-level income.”

It’s no secret that Colorado has a fashion scene that has been growing for the past 25+ years! With new people moving to Colorado and even native Coloradans moving back to Colorado (like I did in 2004), we are seeing an increase in new and emerging designers. And now we get to experience 7 emerging designers Saturday, August 20th!  

This event is a fashion challenge being judged by some of our local fashion icons! We are so excited to see these designers take the runway and truly emerge. The winner will be showcased in Denver Fashion Week!
