Recovering Hipster Goods Interview

Hello Readers! Imagine basking in the warm sunshine, a gentle breeze in the air, and your favorite radio station spinning eclectic tunes. Now, picture tuning in to a conversation that’s as quirky and vibrant as a hidden thrift store gem—welcome to our exclusive interview with Recovering Hipster Goods, where vintage treasures meet modern sustainability in the most unexpected way.

Fashion Denver: Welcome to the show, Recovering Hipster Goods! Let’s kick things off with your origin story. Was it born over a pour-over coffee or a vintage vinyl find?

Recovering Hipster Goods: It all started with my deep love for thrifting, estate sales, and second-hand shopping. Back in my twenties, I’d load up my car with my finds and share them with friends—so much so they joked it was “Kayte’s Moving Closet.” For years I sold items online, but then during a career transition last year, I took a leap with pop-up markets around Denver. One night, over drinks with a friend, we dreamed up the idea of a brick-and-mortar shop. That spark led to everything, and I couldn’t have done it without the love and support of friends, family, and our community.

HAUS Solo Debut: A Bold and Transformative Showcase of Gender-Affirming Fashion

DENVER, CO – Fresh from a successful debut at New York Fashion Week, HAUS, the Black and queer-owned urban contemporary clothing brand, is bringing its groundbreaking Spring/Summer Collection to Denver. On Friday, December 27th, Creative Designer and HAUS founder Michael Sullivan will unveil “Then & NOW” at The Savoy (2700 Arapahoe St, Denver, CO 80205). Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the show begins at 7:20 PM.

“Then & NOW” features Sullivan’s signature design aesthetic—an innovative blend of couture and streetwear silhouettes that embrace asymmetry and whimsical tailoring. This collection draws inspiration from transformative symbols like black butterflies, representing rebirth, hope, and resilience after hardship. It pays homage to pivotal cultural moments, from the Civil Rights era and the affluence of the Black Ivy League to the contributions of Black and Brown queer and trans individuals across history.

“For me, ‘Then & NOW’ is about examining what’s changed in fashion—and what hasn’t,” Sullivan explains. “It’s an invitation for all of us, especially BiPOC communities, to ask: Are we truly sharing spaces with BiPOC queer and trans individuals, who have been integral to these movements all along?”
