What inspired your love for fashion and fashion design?
Colors and fun patterns inspire my love for fashion and fashion design! I fell in love with designing fabric in 2012 and haven’t looked back since.
What is the first thing you ever designed?
In high school I bleached a pair of red jeans until they were a beautiful light pink with dark pink splashes, cut them, and turned them into a skirt. I had an old tutu from a ballet performance which I cut the tulle from and sewed onto the bottom of the skirt. I wish I had a photo to share.
How long have you been designing?
I started designing hemp fabric exclusively in 2013. My latest venture in the ready- to-wear world is SpaceJungle, which I started in 2019, and features athletic fabrics. I hope to merge these two passions and incorporate hemp into a collection soon. … Read more!
Brooks at the time of her diagnosis became friends with another Denver fashion icon, Sue Miller. Miller had started Colorado’s first breast cancer organization seven years before to give survivors a place and faces to talk to. Brooks like many survivors was private in sharing her diagnosis, but that didn’t stop her from celebrating life instead of fearing it.
