The Juicing Tree 3-day Cleanse

il_340x270.475118171_d8u4

It’s no secret that we indulge ourselves in the tastiest foods and drinks over the holidays. For me the holidays meant spending quality time with friends & family [ & food…+ maybe some sugary drinks too : ) ].  Needless to say – my body is in need of a quick detox to jumpstart my metabolism.

I contacted my favorite local juicer, The Juicing Tree, for help.

Starting today I will be doing their 5280 Three-Day Juice Cleanse. I also get to try their Nut Milks, Kale Clusters, and Naked Nuggets. Um, yes please!

Wish me luck!

This is a unique holiday market and conversation on the topic of ‘true cost’ and ‘true benefit’ of an item. We’ll explore the complex issues that surround both buying local and handmade as well as from global corporations.

(ie: “This scarf is beautiful and you made it but it costs a lot of money and I can get something kind of similar from Target but it might be made from slave labor–ugh.)

The market will feature a curated collection of locally handmade goods that showcase Denver’s best local talent.

The hour long discussion will take place at 6:30pm.

There will be raffle prizes, interactive booths, cold cheeks, hot cocoa, and of course.. warm cookies!

Sponsored by: Create Denver, Sweet Action Ice Cream, Fashion Denver, Fancy Tiger, Denver Handmade Alliance, Denver Handmade Homemade, Access Printing.

When were you first inspired to design? When I was living and modeling in NYC. Fashion is everywhere in New York City so the city definitely inspired me. But I missed Colorado while I was living there and actually a lot of my line is inspired by this state!

What will you be showing at Fashion Denver’s Holiday Market? I will be showing my handmade jewelry line, MKaltenbach. Made up of semi-precious and precious stones!

If you had to pick one piece from your collection that most represents your personality, which would it be? Turquoise Chevron

Why should people come see you at the Fashion Denver Holiday Market on December 15th? Since I sell most of my jewelry online this will be a chance for people to see the jewelry in person, try it on and see the beautiful stones in person!

From your collection, what would be the perfect holiday gift? The stackable bracelets are a great gift, they can be worn with anything and who doesn’t love a wrist party! Plus they are made up of real turquoise, coral, amber and quartz with an … Read more!

DESIGNER-A-DAY: Elizabeth Kay

TODAY’S FEATURED DESIGNER-A-DAY

FOR THE FASHION DENVER HOLIDAY MARKET

Name: Elizabeth Kay

Business: The Seventh Guilt

When were you first inspired to design? I have always been obsessed with fashion! At a young age I had a love for clothing, playing dress up with friends and wearing my mothers dance costumes every chance I got.

What will you be showing at Fashion Denver’s Holiday Market? The Seventh Guilt apparel designed and made by me! Hand printed t-shirts, distressed zip -up hoodies, hand knitted scarves and handmade jewelry. Also, I will be showing a sneak peak at my Designer Line (Elizabeth Kay)!

If you had to pick one piece from your collection that most represents your personality, which would it be? These two t-shirts are all about bold graphics. I am a huge supporter of small and local businesses so I made this tank to represent! The girl in the picture is a friend who I was inspired by and this is my most popular t-shirt. Both of these will be available at the market.

Eeny, Meany, Miny, Mo, but No Meany. – Why We Love Rebecca Proctor

We stopped by Neiman Marcus in Cherry Creek last Saturday for a brunch with the Creative Director of MacKenzie-Childs, Rebecca Proctor. We received an overwhelming amount of inspiration from MacKenzie-Childs new Bittersweer Funiture Collection, which was expected from the luxury brand, but we did not expect just how moved we would be by the face behind the brand.  Rebecca’s energy and enthusiasm was magnetic, and her philosophy was parallel to that of Fashion Denver.  We cannot put into words what a pleasure it was to meet Rebecca Proctor.  Her message spoke powerfully to us that, no matter what, we must “always see the happy point of view” of any situation.

We had the opportunity to chat with this life-loving designer and learn a little more about her and the MacKenzie-Childs brand:

How did the MacKenzie-Childs brand originate?

MacKenzie-Childs started out as a small artisanal pottery in 1983. The story began in Aurora, New York and we are still headquartered there today. The original focus was on producing handmade, hand-painted majolica dinnerware and serving pieces, and the collection quickly expanded. Today we are designing and manufacturing a complete home furnishings collection including furniture, lighting, rugs, designs for your garden, personal … Read more!
