“SPA”-A-DAY: Kai Med Spa

TODAY’S FEATURED SPA OF THE DAY
FOR THE FASHION DENVER HOLIDAY MARKET

Business: Kai Med Spa

When were you first inspired to open Kai Med Spa? Ted Lin is the owner of Kai Med Spa. His inspiration came through working in his general practice of medicine. He worked with a patient who was ailing for months. She was not responding to any of his physical treatment suggestion and she talked a great deal about a mark on her face at each appointment. Dr. Lin did not ignore the comments about the mole, but he was not listening in a way that he could understand the sort of image problems it was causing. Finally after months, he agreed to remove the spot. An unbelievable transformation occurred afterward. Her entire demeanor changed. Her physical health improved drastically and her self esteem and self image increased. It was then that he realized that sometimes there are things about ourselves that can hinder growth on the inside. It inspired him to listen closer to his patients but to also pursue the business of a medical spa. The connection between paying attention to what is going on with the outside of your body can absolutely … Read more!

Tess Vigil of 50 Dresses is offering sewing / design lessons!

50 DressesLocal seamstress and designer of Denver based label 50 Dresses by Tess Vigil is offering personal or small group sewing lessons in the RiNo arts district in Denver!

Tess’s notes…

Hi! I have 5 years teaching and tutoring experience, have a master’s degree in education, and have owned and operated my own fashion design label for the past 3 years. I’m always trying to meld my passion for sewing and design with my passion for teaching. I’ve taught summer camp programs to ages 6-14 at Colorado Academy in basic sewing, designing doll clothes, fashion blogging, and more. As you can see from my website, I mostly make dresses and separates, but I like doing small projects like aprons, pillows, etc with beginners.

I am open to personalizing a lesson to your needs, but here are a few styles of lessons I’ve had success with in the past:

•Kid’s sewing lesson- 1.5-2 hours, 1-2 kids age 6+. We go over basics of hand sewing, choose fabric for a small project like a doll dress or pillow, and work together to complete a project. Fun idea for a birthday party with a small group of girls!

•Do you have your own sewing … Read more!

Life’s Too Short to Wear Boring Jewelry

GLAM BOMB 3

It’s no secret that I have an obsession with jewelry.  I mean, just look at how I sectioned off a corner of my room to be called the “jewelry corner” and you’ll know.

The Perfect Petal hosted Glam Bomb 3, its third annual jewelry event on October 3 to benefit One of 99.  One of 99 puts together art education outreach programs for local youth through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. 100% of ticket sales went directly to the cause.

The chic soiree was held at 1820 Blake Street; the most gorgeous historic mansion nestled in the middle of the city. I entered through an unpretentious green door tucked in between Vesta Dipping Grill and an Office Space, unsure of what I was walking into.  I walked up a tall staircase, was handed a raffle ticket and entered a world of accessory bliss.

There were striking displays scattered around the stunning home.  Designers had their lines intricately presented at their own distinct location, and whether it was a display on the coffee table in the loft, or amongst pictures on the bedside tables, it was presented beautifully.  It was truly the most … Read more!

My name is Stephanie Rowe and I am a Colorado native now residing in the Denver area.  I recently graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in marketing. I played for the University of New Mexico women’s soccer team all four years and moved to Denver after graduation to pursue a fashion career in the city that I love.

I am currently working on my MBA at the University of Colorado – Denver.  In my free time you can find me hiking, attending farmer’s markets, roaming the streets of Denver, doing DIY projects or shopping at adorable boutiques.  My month long backpacking trip through Europe left me with a passion to see the world and experience all it has to offer. I like to incorporate different cultures into my everyday attire, but feel best in a chic black outfit. I pride myself in my ability to combine inexpensive items with high-end designer pieces to make a cohesive and elegant look.

My internship at Fashion Denver will have me attending and blogging about the trendiest Fashion events that Denver has to offer, and allows me to unite local designers so that … Read more!
