Recently named “one of the fastest-growing American fashion platforms,” by Forbes Magazine, Denver Fashion Week is back with its largest rendition yet. Occurring on November 9 – 17, the bi-annual fashion week brings together more than 40 designers, new concepts, another night of runway shows, international designers and more.
This season, the week kicks off on Saturday, November 9 with the return of Street Fashion x Art, which debuted last spring to a sold-out show. The successful concept brings together Denver’s youngest and most vibrant designers with equally talented artists to create a one-of-a-kind collection. This season, expect plenty of fresh faces as well as DarkDenim, which was named by
Forbes as one of the city’s most exciting young designers after his debut at DFW last season.
The following day welcomes back DFW’s wildest night — The Hair Show — but in a whole new light. We’re upping the ante by pairing award-winning hair and makeup teams with our local designers for a new concept we’re dubbing “Avant-garde.” Expect this runway show to embody Avant-garde in every way possible — with out-of-this-world design, exquisite styling and electrifying hair and makeup.
After the first weekend of runway shows wrap, our industry-focused nights also return. Taking place at the McNichols Building — and as a part of our ongoing Cultural Partnership with the City of Denver — this season we focus on designers with two of our three events. On Monday, November 11, Darlene C. Ritz, Chair of Fashion Design at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, will lead a workshop in manufacturing and tech pack production. Then on Tuesday, there will be a discussion with Florence Müller. As the Fashion and Textile Art Curator for the Denver Art Museum (DAM), Müller has brought fashion to the forefront of DAM’s programming through groundbreaking exhibits such as Dior: From Paris to The World and Yves Saint Laurent – The Retrospective. The series of events will then end with the US Patent Office leading an informative discussion in trademarks.
Continuing on at The McNichols Building, we are bringing back the iconic Denver boutique, Garbarini, for a Thursday night runway show. Known for carrying major international and national brands, Garbarini will bring new collections to Denver straight off the NYFW runway. Expect names like Diane Von Furstenberg and Theory to grace the catwalk.
Taking Friday off, DFW comes back on Saturday with one of our most exciting nights — the International and National Designers runway show. Traditionally featuring only national brands, we’re mixing it up this year with four designers from Mexico City. In partnership with Zeppelin Station, the designers are a part of their
Made in a City program that features different brands from rotating cities. The runway show will mark the end of the Mexico City installment. The night will also feature a handful of young Denver designers who have grown their brands well beyond the Mile High — including
Maxwell Bresler, whose designs have been
worn by exciting young stars like Billie Eilish.
To end the season, we’re focusing on what makes DFW great — our Denver Originals. The capstone event brings together some of our most beloved local designers for a night of uniquely Mile High innovation. The night will highlight 10 designers that we believe help define the city’s design industry.
“Denver Fashion Week evolves once again this season. As always we will feature respected local designers and boutiques as well as a new group of homegrown talent, national designers and a celebration of fashion from Mexico City. It will be the largest DFW yet with five nights of shows!” said Charlie Price, DFW creative director.
See below for the full lineup. And as always, Denver Fashion Week supports models and designers of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, ages, sexual orientations, abilities and identities. Many more details are still to be announced, but you can find all the information on upcoming events and developments on our website
