Call out for designers for Bazaars that Benefit

Bazaars that Benefit

A friend of mine recently started a project giving crafters an outlet while raising money for charities! She’s got a few more spots open for their December 14th Bazaar…

Bazaars that Benefit
Saturday, December 14th
2845 Walnut Street

What do we do?  We offer members of the crafting community exposure to a new market with the added opportunity to benefit the arts.  We provide the shopping public a place with a wide variety of unique gifts for a special “someone” and a chance to get to know the work of artists like yourself.

Our mission is to:

-support local artists/makers

-benefit charities that value the arts

-make people smile when they receive their one of a kind creation

In order to support both you and the charities, we ask a small percentage of sales from the market be donated.

We have chosen charities with connections to the art community.  The Gold Crown Foundation sponsors art enrichment programs for young people.  The Morgan Adams foundation connects with recognized artists for an auction to benefit children with cancer.

We hope that you will want to participate in this unique bazaar.  In an effort to offer variety we encourage … Read more!

DESIGNER-A-DAY: Kim Tinnell

TODAY’S FEATURED DESIGNER-A-DAY
FOR THE FASHION DENVER HOLIDAY MARKET

Name: Kim Tinnell

Business: Perfect Tin

When were you first inspired to design? I got my undergraduate degree in studio art with a focus on mixed media. I really enjoyed taking everyday objects and turning them into art. One day I was perusing a vintage shop and came across an old 1950s tin Band Aid container with a woman on it and I thought, “That would be an awesome bracelet.”

What will you be showing at Fashion Denver’s Holiday Market? I will be showing my upcycled, one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. All my pieces are hand cut from vintage tins. I have earrings, bracelets, and necklaces.

If you had to pick one piece from your collection that most represents your personality, which would it be?  I made a bracelet out of a vintage Curad tin (circa 1950). It is playful, yet refined. The bracelet reminds me of the Pop Art period, when a lot of artists used imagery from advertising. This is one of my favorite movements in Art History.

“SPA”-A-DAY: Kai Med Spa

TODAY’S FEATURED SPA OF THE DAY
FOR THE FASHION DENVER HOLIDAY MARKET

Business: Kai Med Spa

When were you first inspired to open Kai Med Spa? Ted Lin is the owner of Kai Med Spa. His inspiration came through working in his general practice of medicine. He worked with a patient who was ailing for months. She was not responding to any of his physical treatment suggestion and she talked a great deal about a mark on her face at each appointment. Dr. Lin did not ignore the comments about the mole, but he was not listening in a way that he could understand the sort of image problems it was causing. Finally after months, he agreed to remove the spot. An unbelievable transformation occurred afterward. Her entire demeanor changed. Her physical health improved drastically and her self esteem and self image increased. It was then that he realized that sometimes there are things about ourselves that can hinder growth on the inside. It inspired him to listen closer to his patients but to also pursue the business of a medical spa. The connection between paying attention to what is going on with the outside of your body can absolutely … Read more!

DESIGNER-A-DAY: Sara Schmitz Olson and Christa Schmitz

TODAY’S FEATURED DESIGNER-A-DAY
FOR THE FASHION DENVER HOLIDAY MARKET

Name: Sara Schmitz Olson and Christa Schmitz

Business: Chrisara

When were you first inspired to design? We are twin sisters Sara and Christa creating Chrisara. When we were little, our parents didn’t want us to watch TV, so they sat us down at a little table and had us draw. We quickly were fascinated with drawing people and animals. Our dad taught us how to sew on a machine at age 7. All this helped motivate and push us to where we are now. We obtained our dream to work together as artists/designers and combine our love for drawing/painting onto developed designs of our own.

What will you be showing at Fashion Denver’s Holiday Market? We will be showing our current line of original designs and partially hand painted apparel featuring animals and skulls native to the beautiful Colorado state.

If you had to pick one piece from your collection that most represents your personality, which would it be? The attached pic of the flowy, original design skull, cropped tank describes Chrisara’s personality b/c we like clean lines and a laid back vibe, but still something artistic in style.
